IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONSWARNING - To guard against injury, basic safety precautions should be observed, including the following:A) READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONSB) DANGER: To avoid possible electric shock, special care should be taken since water is employed in theuse of aquarium equipment. For each of the following situations, do not attempt repairs by yourself; return theappliance to an authorized service facility for service or discard the appliance:1)2)3)4)5)C)D)E)F)G)H)I)J)K)CAUTION: If the appliance falls into the water, DON’T reach for it! First unplug it and the retrieve it. If electricalcomponents of the appliance get wet, unplug the appliance immediately. (Non-immersible equipment only)If the appliance shows any sign of abnormal water leakage, immediately unplug it from the power source. (Nonimmersible equipment only)Carefully examine the appliance after installation. It should not be plugged in if there is water on parts notintended to be wet.Do not operate any appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, or if it is malfunctioning or has been dropped ordamaged in any manner. To avoid the possibility of the appliance plug or receptacle getting wet, position aquarium stand and tank or the fountain to one side of a wallmounted receptacle to prevent water from dripping onto the receptacleor plug. A “drip-loop” shown in the Figure A should be arranged by theuser for each cord connecting an aquarium appliance to a receptacle. The “drip-loop” is the part of the cord below the level of the receptacleor the connector if an extension cord is used, to prevent water travelingalong the cord and coming in contact with the receptacle. If the plug orreceptacle does get wet, DON’T unplug the cord. Disconnect the fuseor circuit breaker that supplies power to appliance. Then unplug andexamine for presence of water in the receptacle.Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children. To avoid injury, do not contact moving parts or hot parts such as heaters, reflectors, lamp bulbs and the like.Always unplug an appliance from an outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts and beforecleaning. Never yank cord to pull plug from outlet. Grasp the plug and pull to disconnect.Do not use an appliance for other than intended use. The use of attachments not recommended or sold by theappliance manufacturer may cause an unsafe condition.Do not install or store the appliance where it will be exposed to the weather or to temperatures below freezing.Make sure an appliance mounted on a tank is securely installed before operating it.Read and observe all the important notices of the appliance. If an extension cord is necessary, a cord with a proper rating should be used. A cord rated for less amperes orwatts than the appliance rating may overheat. Care should be taken to arrange the cord so that it will not betripped over, pulled, or placed where the appliance plug and extension cord plug will be exposed to water. This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than other). As a safety feature, this plug will fit in apolarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician.

IntroductionThe element Ca Reactor provides and maintains a virtually constant calcium, magnesium andalkalinity ratio, which is critical to the long term success of reef aquaria. The element Ca Reactorfunctions by using CO2 to react with a calcium reactor media such as Seachem’s Reef Reactor .CO2 acidifies the water flowing through the reactor and thereby dissolves the media which releasescalcium, magnesium, carbonates among other elements and components of the chosen reactormedia. A CO2 filled tank along with a pH probe and preferably a CO2 controlling system are requiredand/or highly recommended for proper functionality of the element Ca Reactor.Parts ChecklistFigure 1A.Support BaseG.Threaded RodP1.Venturi Injector O-ringB1.Locking RingH.Reactor Column CoverP2.Venturi Injector O-ringB2.Locking RingJ.Pump Connecting PipeQ.pH Probe GrommetC1.Lower Reactor Chamber CoverK.Compression RingR.ValveC2.Upper Reactor Chamber CoverL.Compression O-ringS.Tube WrapD.element SpongeM.T ConnectorT1.TubingE.Reactor ColumnN.Compression O-ringT2.TubingF.Reactor ChamberO.Venturi InjectorT3.Tubing9

AssemblyThe versatility of the element Ca allows for two additional options in setting upTubing (T1 and T2). Go to www.aquavitro.com for more information.Figure 2After checking the integrity of each component, assemble the unit using the diagram. (Figure 2)101.Start by removing the Locking Rings (B1and B2) from the Support Base (A).2.Place the main Reactor Column (E) withits internal components having been prepackaged with it, on the Support Base (A).3.Apply the Locking Ring (B1) around theconnection point of the Reactor Column (E)to the Support Base (A).4.Apply the Locking Ring (B2) around theReactor Column (E) and the ReactorColumn Cap (H).

5.Note the direction of the releasing tab onthe Locking Rings (B1 and B2). (Figure 2)Flip the rings over if clipping them closedis difficult.6.Next Assemble the Compression O-ring(L) and the Compression Ring (K) to theSupport Base (A).7.Slide the Pump Connecting Pipe (J) intothe Compression Ring (K) and through theCompression O-ring (L).8.Only lightly tighten the Compression Ring(K) at this time to allow for proper heightadjustment when installing the Pump (U)later.9.Install the Venturi Injector O-rings (P1 andP2) onto the ridges of the Venturi Injector(O).10. Push the Venturi Injector (O) into the PumpConnecting Pipe (J).the reactor will be directed. The water canbe directed back into the sump or directlyto the aquarium. However It is beneficialto direct the effluent flow from the Tubing(T1) into a protein skimmer such as theaquavitro division series or to a pointwhere there is consistent water surfacedisruption so that any possible CO2 isdriven out of solution or low pH water hasits pH increased in value before flowingthrough to the aquarium16. At a convenient point along Tubing (T1)make a cut and install the Valve (R) atconnection points T1.2 and T1.3.17. It is convenient to be able to see theamount of water flowing from the reactorto judge adjustments. Consider this whendirecting the remaining length of Tubing(T1)11. Place the Pump (U) on top of the VenturiInjector (O)18. Next take Tubing (T2) and connect one endat T2.1 to the Reactor Column Cover (H) atthe open nozzle H.2.12. Slip the Compression O-ring (N) betweenthe Pump’s (U) com
