We truly appreciate your loyalty and theconfidence shown in our bull program and look forward to yourcontinued support.As many of you are aware we were hit with a striking blow thisspring; the sudden passing of Duane has left a massive hole inour lives which will never be filled. It was his vision to host a bulland gelding sale each year that would bring together some of thecountry’s best cattlemen and horsemen and offer for sale some ofthe best genetics available. It’s our belief he accomplished that.His philosophy was to create a cowherd that consists of functionallow maintenance females that produce the type of bulls that willmake the difference for you at weaning time. There is no doubtthat Duane’s eye for great cattle let us accomplish that as well.This is a tradition of excellence we are determined to carry on.Our family would like to extend a huge thank-you for all the helpand support that we’ve received since Duane’s passing. It hasbeen very comforting and appreciated.Despite our hardships there is not a better time to be in the cattlebusiness and to see everyone rewarded for their efforts is mostgratifying. Those crossbred calves are pushing down the scalesand pushing up the pay cheques. Last fall we were able to seesome of our customers’ calves sell and it was evident that ourbulls are doing the job they were meant to do.We have an exceptional set of 2 year old Charolais bulls withsome of the same proven genetics as we have offered in the pastas well as some new blood lines that we are sure you will wantto take advantage of. Our bulls are fed for “long term value”.Our feeding program is designed to grow our bulls to accentuatemuscle development and performance without adding excessivefat that may jeopardize fertility and soundness. Carcass datais available in the catalogue and the Charolais bulls will begenetically tested for leptin and tenderness. These results will beavailable by the end of January and posted sale day.We would like to thank our sale partners Garth Cutler and AdamSchierman for all their help and support this past year. It’s the life in youryears” - Abraham LincolnDuane’s love of cattle, horses and the cowboy way of life cameat a very early age. He had a strong love of animals and raisinglivestock. It was in his blood.He always strived for the best, whether it was in 4-H showingcattle, steer riding or bareback riding, judging cattle shows orfitting the bulls for the Calgary Bull Sale. It certainly showedwith the ribbons, trophies and banners he brought home.As far back as one can remember all Duane wanted to do was“raise cattle and sell bulls”. The spring bull sale was the highlight of his year and presenting the bulls on sale day was histime to shine. Hard work and dedication was about to payoff.It was his chance to reconnect with old friends and customers,and shake the hand or have a coffee with new ones. It truly wasthe social aspect of the business that meant the most to Duane.He could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere meeting people from all over the world on his travels. It wouldoften lead to a new bull customer and a lasting friendship.Duane would always go out of his way to make everyone feelwelcome. As many of you know a stop at the farm could lead to a“quick cup of coffee” that often took more than 2 hours and thenanother half an hour to say good bye at the truck. He was quitea character and his sense of humor was a bit outlandish at timesbut he loved being with people and he loved to laugh.With cattle prices above and beyond our wildest expectationsit is heart breaking that he is not here to witness them. This isthe big payoff for all of those that persevered through the toughtimes in the industry. He would be so delighted with the brightfuture that lies ahead for the cattle industry.His commitment and dedication to our operation will never bematched. He instilled in all of us the desire to do the very bestjob possible, stay true to one’s beliefs and always look after ourcustomers. And we will.
