2014 Annual Report

Our MissionOn May 1st, 2014, over 1,100 of Life Centers supportersgathered together to celebrate our 31-year anniversary. The eveningwas filled with wonderful testimonies of clients who made lifechanging decisions after visiting one of our eight pregnancy centers. The Keynote Speaker, Eric Metaxes, gave an inspiring speech onthe need for Christians to take a stand. Tom Shevlot, ExecutiveDirector, shared his vision for the future of Life Centers. AndGovernor Mike Pence signed new legislation to help remove barriersto adoption in Indiana. The 2014 Celebration of Life banquet raisedover 320,000 in support of Life Centers. The mission of Life Centers is to affirm the value of life by providing a network of care to thoseexperiencing pregnancy-related crisis and by compassionately presenting biblical truth resultingin changed lives to the glory of God.Heather’ sStoryI am so thankful for Life Centers. The staffand volunteers truly cared for me when I neededit most.By the time God led me to Life Centers, Ihad already gone through quite a bit. More thanonce I had tried to have an abortion, but Godsent circumstances to prevent me from making myabortion appointments. When I found out I was too far along in mypregnancy to get an abortion locally, my boyfriendinsisted that I begin to look for abortion optionsoutside of Indiana. But I felt as though God wasintervening, and He began to change my heart. Itold my boyfriend I was thinking about keepingthe baby, and he responded by leaving me.As the pregnancy progressed, I needed to behospitalized. Everyone was telling me to abort, but God was speaking to me as well. One day, Iremembered that the Bible said something aboutGod taking care of the birds, and that He said thatwe were more important to Him than the birds. At that moment, I decided to give it all to God.After I was out of the hospital, I visited Life Centers.I was eight months pregnant and just neededsome help. Becky (my counselor) and I prayed fora pack-n-play. In less than a day, I not only had apack-n-play but many other items. Later, I evengot a couch! Becky continued to stay connectedwith me and visited me when my son, Harper, was born.I still talk to Becky often and we have becomegood friends. Life Centers holds a special place inmy heart because God used it to bless me whenI called upon Him.24,383Free Servicespregnancy tests, ultrasound exams, peer counseling, 24-hour Help Line calls,Gospel outreach, maternity supportservices, post-abortion healing groupsEric MetaxasKeynote Speaker8,073Tom ShevlotTotal Client VisitsGrace Worship Choir6,631 different women visited one ofour centers one or more times for a totalof 8,073 visits294Spiritual Decisionspersons who chose faith in Jesus Christin our centers264Ultrasounds Givenfree scans given by trained sonographersto pregnant clients at our centers in orderto encourage them to choose life fortheir childGovernor, Mike PenceWe had a great time at both the Lebanon (September 20th)and the Eagle Creek (October 4th) 2014 Walk Run for Life. Thank you to the hundreds of walkers andrunners that joined us. Along with our sponsors, they raised over 94,000 to help save babies and transform lives.239Babies Savedmoms considering abortion who choselife for their babiesOver 200 volunteers donated 28,847 hours of time.56 new volunteers attended peer counselor training.Over 2,450 individuals financiallysupported the ministry. In 2014, more than 90 churches participated in Life Centers’Bottles for Babies campaigns. These churches distributed emptybottles to attendees and encouraged them to return the bottlesfilled with cash or checks. The total for 2014, including matchingprograms at various churches, was over 152,000!

New Branding and WebsitesOn December 4th, 2014, we launched our refreshed branding with our two new websites. The ultimate reason why we have gone through a “branding refresh” and have completely redone both our mainwebsite (lifecenters.com) and our client-focused site (pregnancychoicesindy.com) is that we wanted to be more effectivein ministry. With this new look and these new sites, we will be better equipped to reach new volunteers, donors andmost importantly, new clients. Our improved websites have new features, such as online appointments, blogs and interactive maps. They are mucheasier to use, more intuitive and mobile friendly. Our main websiteTo read more about how we gotto this point, read the blog storyon our new ewbranding-and-websites/A Letter FromOur Executive DirectorWow, what a year 2014 was forLife Centers! I am so thankful to Godand to you for making our 32nd yearsuch a wonderful year of ministry. Oureight locations in Central Indiana metthe needs of over 6,631 women and theirchildren, and 239 babies were saved fromabortion. We were also a part of over 294spiritual decisions for Christ that weremade in our counseling rooms.Praise God for the funds that were provided to help see theseresults! In 2014, we received direct funding to replace all three ofour antiquated ultrasound machines with new ones, replace bothwebsites (main and client focused), and refresh our branding. Wewere able to curb 100,000 in expenses. Also in 2014, Life Centershad several Bottles for Babies Campaigns that raised over 150,000.Our client focused websiteAs a result of these efforts and God’s generosity through donorslike you, we were able to meet our 2014 budgeted revenue goal!Doing so allows us to better serve our clients and broaden ourservices around our core mission of saving children from abortionand transforming the lives of their parents through the Gospel. All of this paves the way so that in 2015 and beyond, LifeCenters can deliver the compassionate love and care to the thousandsof women and men who come in to our centers. Whether our clientis there for a pregnancy test, ultrasound or seeking maternity items,Life Centers is ready to serve and share the hope of the Gospel. We are thankful to all of our supporters, volunteers andchurches that partner with us to help us fulfill our mission tosave the life of a child and help transform the life of our clients bysharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In His service,New Ultrasound MachinesAt the 2014 Celebration of Life banquet, Tom shared the need to replace aging, antiquated ultrasound equipment at Life Centers. Praise God, three donors steppedup to fund replacing three new ultrasound machines! These new machines producemuch better images that not only allow our sonographers and radiologists to readthe ultrasounds more clearly, but now the client can see more details of the lifegrowing inside of her.We can now electronicallysend ultrasound imagesdirectly to the youngwoman’s phone or email. Now, every time she looks atthe image on her phone,a plea for life is made.Tom ShevlotExecutive Director
