Batch SoftwareRecipe Management and Procedural ControlOur batch software provides efficient, predictable batch processing, consistencybetween batches, and generation of event information during batch runs. The development tools enable you to define equipment capabilities and allowyou to build product recipes against that defined equipment capability. Theseactivities simplify the development of each batch control system. Our batch softwarebrings all facets of batch automation and process management together, providingthe most comprehensive batch management software available.Equipment EditorDefine Your Equipment CapabilitiesOur batch software leverages the ISA88.01 physical modelhierarchy to configure the capabilities of the processingequipment (add materials, heat, agitate, etc.). Using thegraphical interface in the Equipment Editor, you use templatesto create and maintain information about your processequipment. Once you’ve defined the equipment capabilities, information is available to all other components.Recipe EditorDefine Your Product RecipesThe Batch Recipe Editor exposes the capabilities of theequipment to the recipe author, which are then usedto configure all recipes without requiring controllerchanges. It provides a simple way to configure, organizeand store recipe information according to the ISA88.01procedural model.Recipes are built hierarchically and consist of procedures, unit procedures, operations and phases. Recipes also includedescriptive information, formula information, equipmentrequirements, and the procedures used to make the batch.Batch ServerManage Your Batch OperationsThe Batch Server is the engine that runs the batch software. It allocates resources, supports system failure recovery, andprovides communication functions. It gathers and storesproduction information into the Batch Event Journal forreporting and archiving.During runtime, the Batch Server is continuously journalingall actions to one or multiple disk drives so that you can fullyrecover in the event of a control system failure. Batch Serveralso supports cold and warm booting to recover batches fromtheir last known state.Batch ViewView and Control Your Batch ProcessThe standard human interface to our system is the BatchView. Through the Batch View options, you initiate recipes, control batches and access all FactoryTalk information. You cancommand and monitor batches from the Batch List window,a table view, or from the Sequential Function Charts of theselected batch. The Batch View can be used stand-alone orthe individual Batch View components can be added directlyinto container applications, such as HMIs, web browsers orVisual Basic programs.

eProcedureProcess Management for Manual OperationsThe eProcedure software automates manual procedures using an interactive,web-based interface to sequence and document your manufacturing operations.eProcedure provides the consistency of automated controls in manual operations.Use eProcedure to guide operators through manual activity or add links toproduction documents such as operating procedures, material safety datasheets, and equipment maintenance manuals. Enforce signoffs when required tomeet 21CFR part 11 compliance.Leverage an Interactive Web-Based DesignThe eProcedure software allows you to interact with batchesfrom remote computers using Microsoft Internet Explorer. With eProcedure, you no longer need to write processinginformation on a piece of paper for submission. You canenter the data directly into your workstation. The data isdirectly stored in an electronic batch record and is availablefor reporting.Integrate Manual Work Instructionsinto Your Automated ProcessThe eProcedure software can be implemented in acompletely manual manufacturing facility or in a partiallyautomated facility by using all manual phases or acombination of manual and automated phases within asingle recipe. Regardless of the state of automation, theimplementation process is the same. With eProcedure, yourpaper-based operating procedures are no longer required.4

Material ManagerMaterial Management for Batch OperationsMaterial Manager brings just-in-time material management to batch executionsystems, allowing more effective management of materials and recipes. MaterialManager provides plant-level material management and tracking, and integrates withcompany-wide inventory management systems. It complements ERP-level resourcemanagement by collecting the detailed material and equipment tracking informationneeded for optimizing your supply chain and e-business fulfillment.Define Your InventoryThe Material Editor provides an interface to help you definematerial definitions, which consist of material, lot, sublot, container, and storage location data. During a batch run, information about available containers can be presentedto the operator for selection decisions. After a batch is run, quantities consumed or distributed are updated in thematerial database for use in inventory tracking.Integrate Material Managementinto Your Product DefinitionsMaterial-based recipes allow you to define recipes in terms ofmaterials used, not just by plant equipment. A material-basedrecipe uses material-enabled phases, which are configuredin the Equipment Editor and stored in the area model.Material-enabled phases support the specification of amaterial as a means to find appropriate equipment andselect that equipment in a recipe.

FactoryTalk Batch Software SuiteAdditional Features and CapabilitiesPhaseManager : Preferred Integrationwith Logix ControllersFactoryTalk Batch integrates with Logix PhaseManager, whichembeds the ISA88 phase state model directly in a Logix-basedcontroller. PhaseManager provides a structure to streamline thecreation and implementation of phase logic.Batch Reporting includes the following templates: Batch Reports: Batch Listing, Batch Summary, Batch Detail Material Reports: Material Usage, Forward Tracking,Backward Tracing Analysis Reports: Batch Execution, Duration Comparison,Batch ExceptionsXML Support: Extend Your ConnectivityIntegrated Batch VisualizationThe Batch Equipment Editor can read, import, and export XMLarea model files, following the S88-S95 schemes. This makes itpossible for the Batch Equipment Editor to be integrated intothird-party editors or editing procedures.Seamlessly integrate batch control into the operator interfacewith this solution which offers configurable, pre-engineeredFactoryTalk View graphics with embedded Batch Viewcomponents. Since all graphics are built using standard productfeatures, you can quickly and easily create custom views fromexisting screens.Batch Simulator: Test Your RecipesYou can test recipes against plant configurations without runningthem in the plant using the Batch Simulator.Security and Auditing: Secure Your EnvironmentThe security capabilities within our batch software can becustomized to meet the most demanding requirements.New security authority identifier helps protect your intellectualproperty. Auditing provides you with a detailed audit trail of userchanges to the area model and recipe data made from the BatchEquipment and Recipe Editors. In addition, secure what can bereleased to production with the ability to enforce signoffs priorto releasing a recipe.Integrated Batch Visualization includes: Full Screen Graphics: Overview Batch Screen, Line/UnitBatch Screen, eProcedure Batch Screens Pop-up Graphics: Instructions, Signatures, Prompts, Add Batch Documented Batch API code: Batch List, Units List, Recipe List,Add Batch, Batch CommandsBatch Archiver: Send Data to a DatabaseThe Batch Archiver option collects data from your electronicevent journals and stores it in an OBDC-compliant relationaldatabase, such as SQL. Each batch is recorded in a separate filethat contains a complete record of all activity for both manual andautomated workflow.Batch ReportingWith nine pre-configured web-based batch reports that leveragedata already being collected, this reporting solution can solveyour most common batch reporting needs including electronicbatch records (EBR), track & trace genealogy, and productionexceptions. Create additional custom batch reports quickly andeasily from these existing open source templates.6
