Service and WarrantyTo the OwnerGeneralThe subsequent pages of this Service andWarranty Information booklet describesome service requirements and thewarranties you receive as a MercedesBenz owner.Your vehicle is covered under the termsof these “Warranties” and your MercedesBenz dealer will exchange or repair anydefective parts in accordance with theterms of such warranties within statedlimits.Please present this booklet to the ServiceAdvisor at your Mercedes-Benz dealerevery time you have service or warrantywork performed.Please keep this booklet together with theOperator’s Manual and other documentsconcerning your vehicle so that futureowners will have access to this literature ifyou should sell the vehicle.If You Have Lost the Service andWarranty Information BookletShould you lose your Service andWarranty Information booklet, have yourlocal Mercedes-Benz dealer arrange for areplacement. It will be mailed to you.Replacement Parts for Your MercedesBenzGenuine Mercedes-Benz parts, exchangeunits and factory approved accessoriesare the recommended replacement partsfor your Mercedes-Benz vehicle andare available through your authorizedMercedes-Benz dealer in Canada.These parts meet the same exactingquality control standards as the originalequipment on your vehicle and complywith all applicable Federal and Provincialsafety regulations.Consult your authorized MercedesBenz dealer in Canada for warranty andother details. 6Service and WarrantyNew Vehicle Limited Warranty - Basic CoverageItems Which Are Covered:DEFECTS: Mercedes-Benz Canada Inc.(MBC) warrants to the original and eachsubsequent owner of a new MercedesBenz vehicle that any authorizedMercedes-Benz dealer in Canada willmake any repairs or replacementsnecessary, to correct defects in materialor workmanship arising during thewarranty period.ADJUSTMENT PERIOD: Adjustments(including wheel balancing and wheelalignment) required to correct a defectin material or workmanship during thefirst 12 months or 20,000 km, whichevercomes first, will be performed by anyauthorized Mercedes-Benz dealer. Thisdoes not apply to adjustments which arepart of normal maintenance services.ANY MERCEDES-BENZ DEALER: Anyauthorized Mercedes-Benz dealer inCanada of the owner’s choice will performwarranty repairs or replacements.The vehicle should be delivered to theMercedes-Benz dealer during normalservice hours. A reasonable time shouldbe allowed after taking the vehicle to theMercedes-Benz dealer for performance ofthe repair.GLASS: Glass is warranted against stresscracks for 12 months or 20,000 km,whichever occurs first.WARRANTY PERIOD: This warranty is forthe first to occur of 48 months or 80,000km, whichever comes first, from thevehicle’s date of delivery or when placedinto service if earlier.WEAR AND TEAR PERIOD: The followingparts listed are covered for wear andtear during the first 24 months or 40,000km whichever comes first. BRAKEPADS, BRAKE DISCS, BRAKE PAD WEARSENSORS AND LIGHT BULBS.WARRANTY STARTS: The warrantyperiod starts on the date the vehicle isdelivered to the first retail purchaser orput in service as a Mercedes-Benz dealerdemonstrator or MBC company vehicle.NO CHARGE: Warranty repairs andadjustments will be made at no charge forparts and labour.

If youplan to operate your vehicle in the USAplease be aware that service facilities andreplacement parts are not available.THE BASIC COVERAGE, EMISSION ANDCORROSION WARRANTIES IN THISBOOKLET ARE THE ONLY WARRANTIESGIVEN WITH THE PURCHASE OF AMERCEDES-BENZ VEHICLE. TO THEEXTENT PERMITTED BY STATUTORYLAW, THESE WARRANTIES ARESUBJECT TO THE LIMITATIONSPROVIDED THEREIN AND THERE ARENO OTHER REPRESENTATIONS ORWARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED,STATUTORY OR OTHER. NEITHERDAIMLER AG, MERCEDES-BENZCANADA INC., NOR THE AUTHORIZEDMERCEDES-BENZ DEALER ASSUMESOR AUTHORIZES ANY OTHER PERSONTO ASSUME FOR THEM ANY OTHERLIABILITY IN CONNECTION WITH SUCHVEHICLE. NO PAYMENT OR OTHERIn all other countries (except USA) defectsin material and workmanship will behandled in accordance with the termsand limitations of the Daimler AG LimitedWarranty.COMPENSATION WILL BE MADEFOR INDIRECT OR CONSEQUENTIALDAMAGE SUCH AS, DAMAGE ORINJURY TO PERSON OR PROPERTYOR LOSS OF REVENUE WHICH MIGHTBE PAID, INCURRED OR SUSTAINEDBY REASON OF THE FAILURE OFANY PART OR ASSEMBLY WHICHMAY BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED INACCORDANCE WITH THE TERMS OFTHIS WARRANTY.Some provinces do not allow theexclusion or limitation of incidental orconsequential damages or limitation onhow long an implied warranty lasts, sothe above limitations may not apply toyou.7

8Service and WarrantyNew Vehicle Limited WarrantyItems Which Are Not Covered:TIRE DAMAGE: Tires are warranted by thetire manufacturer. Damage to the tiressuch as punctures, cuts, snags, bruises,impact damage and breaks resulting frompothole impact, curb impact or from otherobjects, are not covered. Damage fromincorrect inflation, excessive axle load,high speed spinning (when stuck on ice orin snow), tire chains, racing or competitivedriving events, incorrect mounting ordemounting, improper puncture repair,misuse, negligence, alteration andmisapplication, are not covered. Rapidor irregular tread wear due to lackof tire rotation according to the tiremanufacturer’s recommendations orincorrect wheel alignment or tire balanceis not covered. Tread wear out is also notcovered.WHEEL ALIGNMENT: Adjustments for roadcrown issues are not covered.WIPER BLADES AND INSERTS: Damagedor worn wiper blades and wiper bladeinserts are not covered.DAMAGE DUE TO ACCIDENTS, MISUSEOR NEGLIGENCE: Accidents or damagefrom objects striking the vehicle. Misuseof the vehicle such as driving over curbs,overloading, improper operation, storageor transport (Proper use is described inthe Operator’s Manual).DAMAGE DUE TO LACK OFMAINTENANCE: Lack of propermaintenance as described in the ServiceBooklet. Use of service parts or fluids,such as paper oil filters or improperengine oil, which are non-approved byMBC, will cause engine damage notcovered by the warranty.NORMAL MAINTENANCE IS OWNER’SRESPONSIBILTY: Cleaning and polishing,lubrication and filters, engine tune-up,replacing worn wiper blades, wiper rubberinserts, brake pads and discs, and clutchdiscs and pressure plates are some of thenormal maintenance services vehiclesrequire and are not covered by thiswarranty. See Service Booklet for details.Damage caused by the use of improperfilters (including oil filters), engine oils,fluids, cleaners, polishes, or waxes isnot covered. Original equipment remotecontrol key batteries are covered for thefirst 90 days from the vehicle warrantystart date.DAMAGE DUE TO ALTERATIONS:Alterations by changing or adding tothe vehicle can adversely affect itsperformance, reliability and longevity andare not covered by this warranty.DAMAGE CAUSED BY IMPROPER BODYREPAIRS: Damage or malfunctionscaused by body repairs not performed inaccordance with Mercedes-Benz specifiedrepair procedures or otherwise improperlyperformed are not covered by thiswarranty.

Service and WarrantyNew Vehicle Limited WarrantyItems Which Are Not Covered: (cont’d)DAMAGE CAUSED BY REPAIR PARTSAND MISFUELING: MBC strongly warnsagainst the introduction of fuels with ananti-knock index less than 91 octane orethanol blends greater than E10 in nonflex-fuel capable gasoline engine equippedvehicles, and in vehicles, equipped with adiesel engine, strongly warns against theintroduction of biodiesel blends greaterthan B5. Malfunctions caused by the useof other than Genuine Mercedes-Benzparts and accessories and damages ormalfunctions resulting from incorrectfuel usage, poor fuel quality (includingbiodiesel blends not meeting ASTMD6751 or EN590 quality standards) orfrom blending additional fuel additivesother than those expressly approved foruse in exceptional circumstances (seevehicle operator’s manual) by MBC are notcovered.ALTERED ODOMETER: No warrantycoverage shall apply to any vehicle onwhich the odometer has been altered andthe actual km cannot be determined.DAMAGE FROM THE ENVIRONMENT: Partsmade from cloth or leather (upholstery,convertible tops, trim items), wood, paintor chrome which have been affected byairborne fallout, such as chemical andtree sap, or by road salt, hail, windstormor other environmental factors are notcovered by this warranty.DAMAGE TO GLASS: Glass breakage orscratches are not covered unless positivephysical proof of a manufacturing defectcan be established.EXTRA EXPENSES: This warranty doesnot cover payment for loss of use of thevehicle during warranty repairs nor lodgingbills, substitute transportation rentals,or other travel costs, telephone calls,loss of pay, or other economic loss orconsequential damages except as outlinedin the Roadside Assistance program (RSA).CHANGES IN DESIGN: The manufacturerhas reserved the right to make anychanges in design or to make additions to,or upon its products without incurring anyobligations to install the same equipmenton motor vehicles previously built.RACING OR COMPETITIVE EVENTS:Your limited warranties do not cover thecosts of repairing damage or conditionscaused by racing, nor do they cover therepair of any defects that are found as theresult of participating in a racing event.DAMAGE TO INTERIOR SURFACES:Damage to finished interior surfacessuch as upholstery, wood, leather, suede,plastic, chrome, glass, rug, and paintcause by external influence, misuse,or negligence is not covered. Someexamples include, but are not limitedto, spills, chafe marks, scratches,and impressions from heavy objectsor clamping force (such as a strap ormounting device). Damage from theuse of third party accessories such assteering wheel locks or vent-mounted airfresheners is also not covered.9

10Service and WarrantyNew Vehicle Limited Warranty - Things You Should KnowGeneralOur intention is to repair under warranty,without charge to you, anything thatgoes wrong with your vehicle during thewarranty period which is our fault. All weask is that you properly maintain and carefor the vehicle and that you have warrantyrepairs or adjustments performed by anauthorized Mercedes-Benz dealer.Please note the difference between“defects” and “damage” as used in thewarranty. Defects are covered sincewe, the manufacturer or distributor areresponsible. Conversely, we have nocontrol over damage caused by suchthings as, but not limited to collision,misuse, and lack of maintenance.Therefore, damage for whatever reason isnot covered by the warranty.MAINTENANCE SERVICES AREALSO NOT COVERED BY THEWARRANTY SINCE IT IS THE OWNER’SRESPONSIBILITY TO MAINTAIN THEVEHICLE ACCORDING TO THE SERVICESCHEDULE PROVIDED.All maintenance services must beaccomplished to keep your warrantycoverage valid. When requestingservice or repair work under warranty,the owner must present to theauthorized Mercedes-Benz dealer,evidence that the periodic servicingrequirements have been accomplished.Receipts covering completion ofregular servicing should be retained, inthe event a question arises concerningmaintenance.These receipts should be transferredto each subsequent owner of thevehicle. For your convenience, theService Booklet has been designed toincorporate the signature and stampof your authorized Mercedes-Benzdealer upon completion of the requiredmaintenance services.This signature is evidence ofcompletion of the maintenanceservices and should be kept togetherwith other receipts, repair orders andinvoices. If the owner has a warrantyclaim and can show through receiptedinvoices that the vehicle has receivedthe required servicing, the dealer willperform the warranty work withoutcharging for parts and labour. It is theresponsibility of the owner to proveand the dealer to judge whether therequired maintenance service has beenperformed.

Service and WarrantyNew Vehicle Limited Warranty - Things You Should KnowMBC’s obligation is limited to theauthorization to exchange or repairat its option such parts which areacknowledged by it to be defective.In case of defective assemblies,factory rebuilt units can be used inexchange instead of their repair. Thereplaced defective parts or assembliesshall become the property of MBC.Warranty repairs do not constitutean extension of the original warrantyperiod for the vehicle or a part thereof.The term “adjustments” as used in thewarranty relates to minor repairs normallynot connected with the replacement ofparts. The warranty covers adjustmentsnecessary to correct defects.For example, if a part should becomeloose or misaligned during normal use orservice, it will be corrected without chargeany time during the 12 month or 20,000km adjustment period.The term “Wear and Tear” as used in thewarranty relates only to the listed partsand only if the parts are defective or wornout. These parts will be replaced withoutcharge anytime during the 24 month or40,000 km wear and tear period.NOTE: If these parts are damagedor worn due to racing or competitivedriving events, accident, misuse orlack of maintenance, which is beyondour control, these damaged parts arenot covered under this term.Depending on your model, it is equippedwith one or two main batteries. Theservice life of the battery(s) is dependenton their condition of charge.If you use the vehicle less than 300 kmper month, mostly for short distancetrips or if it is not used for more thanthree (3) weeks at a time, it is yourresponsibility to have the battery chargechecked and corrected. In such cases wealso recommend the use of an approvedMercedes-Benz trickle charger which isavailable at your authorized MercedesBenz dealer. Please observe the batterycharging instructions in your vehicle’soperator’s manual.11

12Service and WarrantyNew Vehicle Limited Warranty - Things You Should KnowInsurance Write-Off; or Repaired orReplaced PartsAny vehicle which has been damaged tosuch an extent that the owner, insurer,financing institution or leasing companydetermined the vehicle to be a “total loss”,“write off” or equivalent, is not coveredby these warranties. This includes but isnot limited to vehicles issued as “salvage”,“scrap”, “dismantled” or similar title underany provinces law.Any parts repaired or replaced under aninsurance claim or required as a resultof events which are not covered underthis warranty (see “Items Which Are NotCovered”, page 8), for example, damagesdue to accidents, misuse, or negligence,and in either case, any subsequentconsequential damage to the vehicle arenot covered by this warranty.Theft Relevant PartsCertain theft relevant parts requirespecial training and tools to ensure properinstallation and calibration. Improperinstallation and/or control of theseparts can result in an increased risk ofvehicle theft and/or other fraudulentacts. Therefore, for the security of ourcustomers and their vehicles, these partsare only available when installed by anauthorized Mercedes-Benz dealer.Paint and Other Appearance ItemsDefects in paint, trim or other appearanceitems are normally taken care of duringour new vehicle preparation or by thedealer during new vehicle inspection.We suggest that if you find any paint orappearance problems that you adviseyour dealer as soon as possible sincedeterioration due to use and exposure isnot covered by the warranty.The instructions in your Operator’sManual regarding the care of paint,upholstery, trim items and convertibletops, as applicable, must be followedexplicitly to maintain your warrantycoverage.
