To this effect, weuse fully integrated, internally developed design software. Thissoftware is associated with a 3D-CAD package which helps ourdesign engineers to develop effective and efficient customizedmodels.To cover the growing demand from the energy sector, SGBengineers invest plenty of time and resources into research anddevelopment. We create optimized designs thanks to a permanentfocus on ongoing training, inventive talent and creativity asregards engineering criteria and production processes. Importantinstruments in this research work are 3D modeling and applicationof the Finite Element Method. The engineers from SGB cooperatein international working groups within their sector, such as Cigréand IEEE.MEDIUM POWER TRANSFORMERSPRODUCTIONOver 70 years of experience and expertise, combined withcutting-edge equipment, are an important prerequisite whichenables us to continuously optimize our production processes.This results in ongoing improvements regarding quality andsafety of the end product. We combine the fully integrated designprograms with a coordinated production and test environmentincluding horizontal and vertical coil winders, core stacking andclamping robots, separate and air-conditioned coil winding shop,block assembly of the windings, a “vapor phase” drying processand air cushion transport within the test area.5
6MEDIUM POWER TRANSFORMERSTESTING & TRANSPORTTRANSFORMERS MADE BY SGB:THE SPECIAL QUALITY STANDARDTESTINGTRANSPORTEvery unit manufactured within the SGB factory is testedaccording to applicable standards and as required by thecustomer’s specification.Several decades of experience of the SGB Logistics Teamconcerning transport ensure that the transformers aredelivered, unloaded and installed on schedule.The high-voltage test laboratory of SGB Regensburg featuresstate-of-the-art air-conditioning and electrical shielding. Itprovides 3 test stations where all routine and type tests aswell as selected special tests are performed according to thecommon standards such as IEC, ANSI, BS and VDE. Moreover, itfeatures a separate, modern test area for impulse voltage tests,so that 4 transformers can be checked in parallel.With the help of customized logistics solutions and theircertified partners, we manage every challenge, be it specialdimensions, heavy weights, hazardous substances or extremelocal conditions: by road or inland waterways, down to shipmentby ocean vessel, including the subsequent follow-up to ourcustomers world-wide.Oil samples drawn during the test are analyzed immediately inhouse, delivering prompt results in the test phase. To this effect,SGB has established its own oil laboratory.Moreover, our test standards include partial dischargemeasurements at a max. basic interference level of approx.10 - 20 pC, allowing us to significantly improve on the valuespecified by the applicable standards.The deliveries are implemented according to the importrequirements and specificities of the country concerned.No distance is too far!
