It’s November!Craft Ideas for Harvest and ThanksgivingThe fall Sunday School craft projects possibilities are really endless, but as we enterinto the month of November, it is fun to challenge children with special activitiesgeared toward being consistently grateful for what God has blessed them with. It’simportant to encourage them to be thankful, not just on Thanksgiving, and not justin November, but all the time. Hopefully these Thanksgiving crafts will help get theirappreciative thoughts inspired and open up habits that will continue throughoutthe year! Craft one: “Thankful Pumpkin”You will need: Scissors Construction paper or note cards Markers/decorative materials Stapler or tapeProcedure:1. Cut construction paper (likely orange, but anycolor will do) into strips, or have students cutit. Strips should be about 1-1 ½ inches wide.2. Have students write something they arethankful for on each strip; assist with writing ifnecessary.3. Fold the strips up one by one and staple ortape them together, one atop another.4. Arrange the strips into a sphere shape, muchlike a pumpkin (you may need a staple at the bottom, as well).5. Attach a green paper “leaf” to decorate. Craft Two: “Chain of Thanks”You will need: Scissors Stapler Crayons or markers Construction paperProcedure:1. Cut colorful construction paper into strips,or help children cut the paper.2. One day at a time, identify an item thatfamilies feel thankful to have, and write onthe paper.3. Staple the paper strips together, forming achain that lengthens each day.4. Craft Three: “Gratitude Garden”You will need: Construction paper (various colors) Crayons or markers Pipe cleaners Popsicle sticks or clothespins Cup or mini pot container Markers or crayons Glue or tape ScissorsProcedure:1. Cut the construction paper (or helpstudents cut) into flower shapes.2. Have students write things they arethankful for on the flowers.3. Place each “flower” on a pipe cleaner orpopsicle stick stem.4. Add extra decorative embellishments asdesired.5.
