CyberLink PowerDVDRegister Your SoftwareAfter you install the program, a registration window opens,prompting you to register your product. It is important to registeryour software in order to receive technical support or otherinformation from CyberLink. Registering your software also activatesthe CLVS audio option. (See CyberLink Virtual Speaker on p.74.)To register your software, do this:1.Enter your personal information in the First Name, Last Name,and Email entry boxes. Check one or both of the options to receive information fromCyberLink, or uncheck if you do not wish to receive thisinformation.2.Click Register Now. If you have previously registered this product, click I HaveAlready Registered. The registration box will no longer openwhen you run the program. If you would like to register this product at a later time, clickRemind Me Later. The registration box will open each timeyou run the program until you register.4

Chapter 1: IntroductionActivate PowerDVD’s FeaturesThe first time you run PowerDVD, you are prompted to upgradeimmediately from the trial version to the version you havepurchased.To activate PowerDVD’s features, do this:1.Open PowerDVD.2.The Upgrade Information dialog box opens. You can also display this dialog box by clicking(Configuration), then Activate.3.Enter your activation key, then click OK.Note: You can copy and paste your activation key into the firstentry box.5

CyberLink PowerDVDUpgrade Your SoftwareSoftware upgrades and enhancements may be periodically availablefrom CyberLink.Note: You must be connected to the Internet to use this feature.To upgrade your software, do this:1.Open the Upgrade Information dialog box by doing one of thefollowing: Clicknext to the Control Wheel. Press F3. Click(Configuration), then click Upgrade. A windowopens, displaying available options.2.3.6Click the feature set you would like to upgrade to.A web browser window opens, in which you can purchaseproduct upgrades and enhancements.

CyberLink PowerDVDMain ControlsFor a quick definition of all the button functions, please refer to MainControls on p.7.Capturing Your Favorite Scenes1.During playback, simply click the Capture buttoncapture any video content as a still image.to2.To be more precise, you may pause the scene, play in slowmotion, or step frame and then capture.Note: The location of the captured images can be set in theConfiguration area, for they are saved in .BMP format. Go to theSnapshot on p.50 for more information.Capture Menu1.Position the cursor over the Capture buttonfor the Capture menu.and right clickThese are the same selections found in your Capture configurationarea. Please refer to Snapshot on p.50. Capture to clipboard captures the image onto yourWindows' clipboard. Then, you may use the paste functionwith software applications that support this basic function(e.g. MS Word, MS Paint, Photoshop). Capture to File will capture the image directly into a folderyou have selected (go to Snapshot on p.50 for moreinformation on setting the folder).16

Chapter 2: Playback Controls Capture to Wallpaper (Center) will capture the image, centre the image on your desktop, and save it automatically in yourdefault Windows' System folder.Capture to Wallpaper (Tile) will capture the image, place theimage on your desktop using a tile format, and save itautomatically in your default Windows' System folder.To capture the Original video source size, select this option.If the DVD title is NTSC format, the original source will be720x480. For PAL, the size will be 720x576. This selection willdisregard the current window size.To capture the Current video window size, select this option.No matter how ridiculous the current window size displayedon your monitor, this selection will capture it!To control the size of video you capture, click the Customsize option.Full Screen FunctionThe Full Screen functionswitches your screen from full screenmode to windows mode and vice-versa.Note: In Full Screen mode, the PowerDVD player is hidden. Toshow the player, click anywhere on the screen. To access theplayback toolbar, move your mouse to the top edge of thescreen.17

CyberLink PowerDVDSwitching Audio StreamsThis feature is available during playback. Simply click to switchamong the available audio streams (e.g. different languages) wherethe number of streams depends on the DVD title itself.Audio Streams Menu1.Right click on the Next audio stream buttonmenu.2.Select one stream.to call up theDisplaying SubtitlesSubtitles are supplied for practically all DVD titles. The language ofthe subtitles depends on the DVD region of your title. The subtitlesfunction is only available during playback.During playback, clickto switch among available subtitles.Subtitles Menu1.Position your cursor above the Nextsubtitle buttonand right click forthe menu. Then make your selection.2.The Secondary Subtitles selectionpoints to the availability of additionalsubtitles that may be displayed alongwith the default subtitles if the user wishes to activate it.Loading External SubtitlesWhen playing a video file (not on a CD or DVD), PowerDVDsearches for a subtitle file in the same directory where the video file islocated. If a file is found, the subtitles are loaded and the Subtitlesoption is enabled in the Express Menu.18

Chapter 2: Playback ControlsSwitching Among Available AnglesThis feature has not gained prominence as of yet among DVDauthors, but is available on occasion for music concert DVDs.Activate the Menu Pad and then click Next angleduring playbackto switch among available angles. PowerDVD will display the anglecurrently being watched each time you select a new angle.Using the Menus in DVD-Video Format1.Click Menuonce after playback has begun(after the warning messages) or when the titlemenu is displayed and a menu will appear.
