Santa Fe Pellet Stove2RRGetting StartedA. Design, Installation & LocationConsiderationsB. Fire Safety1. Appliance LocationConsideration must be given to safety, convenience, trafficflow, and the fact that the appliance will need a chimney andchimney connector. It is a good idea to plan your installationon paper, using exact measurements for clearances andfloor protection, before actually beginning the installation. Ifyou are not using an existing chimney, place the appliancewhere there will be a clear passage for a factory-built listedchimney through the ceiling and roof.Check with your local building code agency before youbegin your installation. If any assistance is required duringinstallation, please contact your local dealer. We recommend that a qualified building inspector and yourinsurance company representative review your plans beforeand after installation.Maintain the designated clearances to combustibles.Insulation must not touch the chimney. You must maintainthe designated air space clearance around the chimney. This space around a chimney is necessary to allownatural heat removal from the area. Thermostat LocationThe thermostat’s location will have some effect on theappliance’s operation. When the thermostat is located closeto the appliance, it may require a slightly higher temperaturesetting to keep the rest of the house comfortable. If thethermostat location is in an adjacent room or on a differentfloor level, you will notice higher temperatures near theappliance. In the event of a hopper fire:A.B.C.D.E.CAUTIONNotify fire departmentPrepare occupants for immediate evacuation.Close all openings into the appliance. While awaiting fire department, watch for ignitionof adjacent combustibles from overheated ventpipe, hot embers or sparks from the chimney.Pour a bucket of water into the appliancehopper.WARNING Do NOT connect this unit to a chimney flue servicinganother appliance.
