From Julie Fay Childswickham Ministry Team leader, I am writing this on the 70th anniversary of VE Day A lifetime ago brave men andwomen triumphed. over evil Brave people on the battlefield but also brave people back home men women and children. suffered the effects of war on their lives but kept going Today we face a different enemy Bright. young people are being tricked into joining organisations who do not represent a peaceful loving God. but rather want to spread hatred slavery violence and racism We see them on our TV screens. dressed in black with guns in their hands hiding behind masks What do we do What can we do Why. not try praying Perhaps this time the fight is not on a battlefield but in ourhearts and minds You. may not have ever done it before but praying is like dropping a stone into a pond the ripples spread. and as they join up with others become a wave If we also spread love in the way we live our lives and. treat otherpeople then love wins God loves us more than we can possibly imagine and is listening. Some might blame God for the bad things that happen but instead how about asking for God shelp It. might be to help us through personal tragedy or illness or loss of a lovedone Or maybe you want to. just say thanks for something Whatever you need God is there to listen TO YOU Give it a go and if. you would like us to pray for you pop into St Mary s Church and you will see on the left hand side by. the font a Prayer Tree where you can place your prayer on the branches and share it with others. What do you have to lose You may be spectacularly surprised by what you might gain. Appeal for Children s Clothing, Are you having a clear out of kid s winter clothes that don t fit anymore. Saturday 29th 31st August, Further to our note in last months magazine we are now in full swing with this years fete and have begun. working on our new ideas, We were hugely fortunate with the weather last year we were lucky to have an incredible turnout and won.
derful support from each of you in and around our village and we are now calling for your help again please. This months update is more of a planning and preparation update about a flower stall the home produce com. petition and a call for gazebos, We intend to hold a plant stall which we have a kind offer to man and therefore we ask that you begin to. grow grow grow If we can each plant a few seeds and find a sunny window ledge with a little watering. there is a chance we may all be able to bring something along to create a wonderful variety of ready for the. garden potted plants or veg ready to sell on Fete Day The village is wonderful at getting behind these sorts. of ideas and we would absolutely love a good selection of plants to materialise on the day ready for sale. Would you be interested in donating a plant or two. Last year Childswickham responded amazingly to our home produce competition So much so you took our stall by storm and. we were not prepared for the incredible amount of produce that arrived We needed twice the number of tables at least not to men. tion everything else Simone Nigel and Mary coped brilliantly under the circumstances and we look forward to being seamlessly. organised for this year we have plan afoot just try us Please do have a think about what you are growing storing or preparing to. bake make for this year and also whether you will be prepared for us to auction off sell your item There will be a few small chang. es to the classes and we will update you on these shortly but we thought to start to focus your minds at this point would give us all a. really good chance of entering something prize worthy from a delicious Victoria Sponge to the funniest fruit vegetable animal. The third item to mention at this point is more basic We no longer have access to some of the gazebos we. used last year and therefore we are making a desperate plea for any gazebos that might be loaned for the day. alongside any bunting you may have Please contact Anona on 07817 561815. Please may we also ask people to start thinking about Tombola and white elephant collecting although we. have a small plea to add to this request Last years White Elephant stall produced the most incredible amount. of generously donated stock to sort and sell Naturally we had quite a lot of sorting to do after the event. many many charity shops runs but sadly quite a few tip runs also All items are gratefully received but we. would like to minimise the number of tip runs for donated items that the charity shops would not take so. please please consider the saleability of your donated items.
