Set upUnpacking your shredder:1Remove all packing materials from theshredder.5Empty the basket frequently for smooth operationand to avoid jams.2Place the shredder on a flat level surface.6Turn the shredder OFF prior to placing hands inwastebasket.NOTE: This shredder will operate only whenused with the supplied basket. 3Make sure safety interlock switch is engaged orunit will not operate.4Be sure that wastebasket is not tilted morethan 10º when shredder is being used.Operating instructionsKeep private information private.You’re almost ready to help protect your identity.Whether you’re destroying a credit card offer withyour name on it or confidential employee records,just follow these steps:1With the power switch in the OFF position, plugthe shredder into a grounded electrical outlet.2Slide the power switch button into the AUTOposition.3The ready LED will illuminate GREEN and theshredder is now ready for operation.4Insert paper straight into the feed opening. TheAuto Start/Stop smart sensor allows the unit toautomatically start when an item is placed intothe feed opening and stop as soon as the itemtravels completely through the feed opening. R emove all paper clips from paper prior toshredding. W hen shredding credit cards, insert credit cardthrough designated slot.4NOTE: This shredder is not designed to shredlabels or any paper with labels. Shredding labelscan cause blades to gum up and damage unit.For the safety of children and pets, alwaysmove the power switch to OFF and unplug theshredder when it is unattended or not in use.
Clearing a jam:If paper is not inserted properly into the shredder,or if the sheet capacity is exceeded, a jam mayresult. The shredder will automatically stop untilthe jam is cleared. To clear a jam: M ove the power switch to the REVERSE (REV)position, and grasp the excess paper from the topand pull it out. Be careful not to place yourhands near the feed opening to prevent anyinjuries. Once the jammed paper is cleared,normal shredding operation can resume. (Ifwastebasket is full, unplug the machine andempty the basket before clearing the jam). Power cord care Do not lift unit by the power cord. O perate shredder from the power source indicatedon the serial label. If you are unsure of the powersource, consult your dealer or local power company. S ince the power cord serves as the disconnectswitch, make sure the shredder is plugged into aneasily accessible wall outlet. The power cord cannotbe replaced. If the power cord is damaged, theshredder should be discarded. Do not rest anything on the power cord. Do not place machine where persons may trip overor walk on the power cord.
