The eVSM EnvironmenteVSM adds this toolbar to Visio as wellas the stencils on the left and right. Ifthe eVSM toolbar disconnects, clickFile Save As and save the file, closethe file, then re-open it. This tip canused for other crashes in eVSM.A new map is initiated by selectingyour application area from the "Open"button. Only the stencils required foryour selected application area willopen on the left side. The left hand side has the QuickeVSM stencils which areoptimized for specific applicationareas such as manufacturing vsoffice vs healthcare. The Quick stencils contain macroshapes which are often collections ofindividual eVSM shapes with pre-builtnames, units, equations, and otherproperties.A Visio file can have multiple pageswhich are accessed with these tabs. Each page gets locked to a choseneVSM application and then not be usedfor other applications.Copyright 2018 The eVSM Group, All Rights Reserved

Hover over each button in the eVSMToolbar to learn what it does. Detailedhelp and tutorials are available at theeVSM help site which can beaccessed via this button. The stencils on the rightstencils contain individualbase eVSM icons. These areorganized into separatestencils (arrows, data, etc.) tomake it easier to find shapes.Copyright 2018 The eVSM Group, All Rights Reserved

Step 2: Learn eVSM Basics1Avoid re-sizing eVSM shapes. Insteadgrow the drawing page when needed. To resize the page, hold down the “Ctrl”key, and then drag any page edge to therequired size. This method works on allfour edges of the page.4VSMSave your Visio file and theninsert a new page via the rightmouse menus on the page-tabs.Quick eVSMCopyright 2018 The eVSM Group, All Rights Reserved

Quick Mfg Stencils OverviewQuick Manufacturing has three stencils.Sketch MfgThe Sketch stencil allows you to capture thevalue stream flow with no data shapes. Datashapes can later be added automatically viaright mouse button menus.Quick MfgQuick Mfg LTThe full Quick stencil contains all of the macroshapes available in Quick manufacturing.Includes the full set of add-on (yellow icons)calculations. The LT stencil contains all the flow shapes butonly a small subset of the add-on (yellow icons)calculations. Great for new users and for userswho don’t need the advanced calculations.Copyright 2018 The eVSM Group, All Rights Reserved

Step 3: Using the wall map sketcherOften value stream maps are started on walls or paper. Converting a hand-drawn map can be tedious and errorprone. An easy way to handle this is to take a clear picture of the map, import it into eVSM and then draw theelectronic map, directly on to of the picture. This page shows how the eVSM Wall Map function can help withthis. You can use a picture of any map to learn this step, if you don’t have one, download a copy from:http://www.evsm.com/wallmap1Click the Wall Map button in thetoolbar to import a wall map pictureinto eVSM.Wall Map2Click the Insert Wall Mapbutton to browse for theimage on your computer.3Trace a rectangle over any oneprocess box to scale the picture.4Click Donewhen finished.Copyright 2018 The eVSM Group, All Rights Reserved

5Map visibility can beswitched on/off andtransparency can beset in this form as well.6Click OK to startsketching over thepicture.7Delete the wall picture.Click the Wall Map buttonagain to bring up the form.Copyright 2018 The eVSM Group, All Rights Reserved
