Usually it isnecessary to replenish the earth’s store of plantnutrients to obtain the most vigorous lawn, themost abundant and brilliant flowers, the prettiesttrees and shrubs, and the greatest yield of freshveggies. What is the best time to test soil?Proper sampling is important to obtainaccurate results. Samples can be taken anytime during the warmer months, when soiltemperatures are at least 55 degrees. If the soil is too wet to spade, rototill or hoe,it is generally too wet to take a sample. On the other hand, extremely dry soil shouldnot be sampled either. How often should I test?Ideally, soil should be tested every 3-5 years, more frequently with intensive use.Try to sample during the same season eachtime for best comparison.SOIL TEST PRICESNon-memberMemberBasic Test 30 20Lawn/Garden Test 40 30Lawn/Garden Plus 60 50Basic Test includes soil PH, Phosphorus (P1), & Potassium (K)with fertility recommendations.Lawn/Garden test includes Basic Test plus organic matter andrecommendations on amount & timing of fertilizer.Lawn/Garden Plus includes everything from Basic and Lawn/Garden tests, plus micronutrients iron, zinc, manganese, copper, sulfur, and boron.Lake CountyCOUNTRY FinancialTo learn more about the new soil testing program feel free tocontact Information Director Andy Blaul at 847-223-6506 or viaemail at ablaul@ameritech.net.Ed Macek.
