But if we can slowdown and refocus our attention, we might realise that Godis there, waiting to love us even though we have so manyunfulfilled good intentions and so many unfulfilled desiresabout our spirituality.”VALUE OF THE WEEK:Term 4, Week 8Value: TruthfulProgram Achieve Key:Emotional ResilienceAction: Be brave to admit when you make a mistakeThe word of God: 1 Timothy 2:4God wants all people to be saved and tocome to the knowledge of truthTerm 4, Week 9Value: Self disciplineProgram Achieve Key:Emotional ResilienceAction: Behave in a pleasant waywhen you feel hurt or angry. The word of God: 1 Peter 1:13Prepare your minds for action, be self controlled andfocused on God’s ways.THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:We make a living by what we get– we make a life by what we give. The liturgies will be held for the following two weeks. The second liturgy will be held on Wednesday 5 Decemberand be led by Mrs Dall’s Yr 2 Class and the final liturgy will beheld on Monday 10 December and be led by Mrs Nield andMrs Roberts’ Year 3 Class. The services will run for approximately 15minutes. They began the day in St AloysiusChurch, with Fr Paul Fyfe sharing his knowledge of the richhistory of the Sevenhill Parish. The students reflected onhow the tireless work of our Ignation fore-fathers, whoestablished the Catholic community, not only at Sevenhillbut right up into the centre of South Australia, led to eachof them having the privelege of undertaking a CatholicEducation at St Joseph’s School, Clare. The students then continued their reflection whilst walkingfrom the church, visiting the Shrine to Mary the Mother ofJesus, looking from a distance at Weikert Cottage and theStations of the Cross (due to the wet weather) on their wayto La Storta.Once at La Storta the students reflected on the Exit Outcomesthey wanted to achieve both prior to and once commencingHigh school and becoming a young adult.Holly Roberts, a young adult who works for the CatholicOffice for Youth and Young Adults (COYYA), shared herexperience of attending both Catholic Primary and HighSchools’ and loving learning about her faith. She told thestudents she particularly related to her faith through lookingat the Caritas Social Justice Teachings. After leaving school,Holly became more connected to her faith and commencedemployment as a Youth Minister at Mary Mount College. This role then led her to the role she is currently in. Sheshared with the students that she loves engaging with youthand young adults and talking to them about their faith andsharing with them their hope in living a life true to the Gospelvalues. Each of the students then spent time writing a letter tothemselves that they will open at the end of Yr 12. In thisletter they reflected on what is happening in their life nowand also on what their hopes and dreams are for their future. The Reflection day provides the children with the opportunityto reflect on how the values they learn both at home and atschool - reflecting on the life of Jesus and Gospel values, willshape their decision making into the future.SOUTHERN CROSSThe current edition of the Catholic newspaper put out bythe Archdiocese called, ’The Southern Cross’, is available at:www.thesoutherncross.org.auGod’s blessings,Paula Clark, APRIM
