ROOTSROOTS International Journal of Multidisciplinary Researches (RIJMR) is apeer reviewed, refereed and quarterly journal. The Journal is assigned byNational Science Library / NISCAIR, New Delhi and powered & publishedby Center for Resource, Research and Publication Services (CRRPS) Tamil Nadu- India. The journal provides a valid space for academics, researchers andprofessionals to share the latest developments and advancements inMultidisciplinary Subjects. It aims to foster the exchange of ideas on arange of important international subjects and to provide stimulus forresearch and further developments and updating of internationalperspectives. The international perspective is further enhanced andenriched by the geographical spread of the aspiring contributors. There are many practical reasons to publish research articles. We do notreally understand what we have discovered until we write it up. When wesubmit an article for publication, we get back critical reviews fromcolleagues and readers, which undoubtedly can often be very helpful andsometimes, they point our mistakes or shortcomings in the applied logictherein. When we share the results of our efforts through publication, webecome a part of the scientific community. We benefit from the exchangeof ideas and learn about what others have already done. We can oftenestablish valuable collaborations with people on the other side of theplanet even without seeing them. If everybody kept their results and ideassecret, the progress of science would slow to a crawl. If we want to benefitfrom the work others have done before, it is only fair that we contributeour bit too. The process of research publication creates a mindset that isvital for research progress. The scope of the Journal is to facilitate researchers, scholars and academicsto come on a strong potential platform and share their findings withmagnanimity and openness and thereby we may become instruments of amore refined and enriched world order.Dr. S. Since the inception of the Institute, the department of English has been constantlycontributing to the qualitative and quantitative phenomenal growth with enriched PGcourses, M.Phil., and full-time and part-time Ph.D programmesOur department has organized One-day International Conference on “Cross and Trans-culturalism in Literature” on 25.02.2020. The objective of the conference is to draw theattention of scholars and students toward Culturalism, which propounds the doctrine thatpeople are determined and identified by their culture. Culture is a combination of discreteelements such as language, food, costumes, cosmetics, landscape and crops, rites and ritualsand institutions like religion, politics, and economy and so on. Culture forms the closed andorganic wholes. Man or woman is inevitably unable to leave his or her own culture but ratherone can only realise himelf or herself within it. Culturalism also maintains that cultures havea socio-political claim to special rights and protections. As a result of multiculturalism, individuals are socially and economically forced to undergo cross-cultural experience, andtherefore, trans-culturalism emerges as an inevitable context. This conference aims atdelineating how various genres of literature portray the origins and traces of cultures andattempt to relocate the divergent cross and trans-cultural identities in the multi-culturalglobal contexts. As mark of uninterrupted academic march, in accordance with the suggestions put forthby MHRD and UGC, our department has extended another opportunity to the researchscholars and students to write research articles on the theme of the aforementionedconference to make the Covid19 Lock-down period academically productive. Last month(April 2020) we have produced 44 articles in Bodhi International Journal through online.

Again, with the support our academic well-wisher Dr.S.Balasubramanian, the second phase ofarticles has been published in the Online Journal, Roots. Faculty members from various othercolleges have also extended their hand by contributing articles to bring the special Issue. We express our sincere thanks to The Director of our Institute and all those, who haveextended their immense support to bring out our research contributions to this level.Dr. G.
