There are more than 1500 coursesavailable at https://swayam.gov.in/nc details/NPTEL in for self-study. Currently SWAYAM andNPTEL offers open online courses – MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses) that are free toenroll. The key features of NPTEL are: Anyone anywhere can study from these courses anytime. This semester 358 courses are offered online - free of cost. There are 3 durations of courses – 4/8/12 weeks. At the end of the course, a certification exam that has to be attended in person and isproctored, for which there is a nominal fee, is conducted in 150 cities in India These courses can also be studied offline using smart phones and laptops etc. The course consists of videos every week, assignments and learners can interact withcourse co-ordinator through online discussion forum.AICTE has identified Advanced and elective courses as FDP (Faculty am.gov.inorhttps://swayam.gov.in/nc details/NPTEL for registering to NPTEL online courses.
