INCREASEGOD’Sby: Jerry SavelleTo truly comprehend what is ours in our covenant of increase withGod, we need compare our understanding of a contract and thetrue, biblical meaning of a covenant. The difference between thetwo is significant.Simply put, contracts involve making promises; covenants involvetaking oaths. For instance, when I purchase a new vehicle from theauto dealership, I enter into a contract. I promise to pay an agreedamount, and the dealership promises to give me the vehicle andthe title.A covenant is different. When Carolyn and I entered into a marriagecovenant, not only did we make promises to each other, we sworean oath, calling on God to both witness and hold us accountablefor the fulfillment of our oath.In a contract, you exchange something tangible with another person;in a covenant, you exchange your very being, swearing an oathbefore the highest authority. God doesn’t make contracts withmankind—He establishes covenants. The Bible says, For whenGod made the promise to Abraham, He swore [an oath] by Himself, since he had no one greater by whom to swear (Hebrews 6:13 AMP).In the BeginningGod’s covenant of increase with mankind is expressed in His originalintent that man and woman should live a blessed life. Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Ourlikeness; let them have dominion ” So God created man in His ownimage; in the image of God He created him; male and female Hecreated them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Befruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominionover the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every livingthing that moves on the earth” (Genesis 1:26–28).What was the first thing God did after He created them? He blessedthem. Genesis is the book of beginnings, and what I want you tosee is that from the very beginning God intended mankind to livea blessed lifestyle. To be blessed literally means “empowered to prosper; to beempowered to prosper as a result of having God’s favor bestowed onyour life.” So, immediately after creating the first man and woman,God empowered them to prosper. He caused His favor to be uponthem. And then He told them to be fruitful and multiply. Most of thetime, when we read this, we think only about replenishing the earththrough offspring. But to be fruitful also means to be successful inevery endeavor.4 / AIFWe know the story of how Adam blew it, committing high treasonin the Garden of Eden. But even though Adam broke covenantwith God, God’s plan of blessing mankind remained the same. Helater established His covenant of increase with Abraham: ThenI will make my covenant between me and you and will greatlyincrease your numbers (Genesis 17:2 NIV). The Bible says, NowAbraham was old, well advanced in age; and the LORD had blessedAbraham in all things (Genesis 24:1). You may say, “Well that’sgreat, Brother Jerry, but what does this have to do with me today?”It has everything to do with you! God’s Word says, And if you areChrist’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the

promise (Galatians 3:29).Jesus redeemed us from the curse and put us in position to walkin the same blessing—the same covenant of increase—that Godestablished with Abraham. In fact, we can expect better than whatAbraham had because our covenant is a better covenant foundedupon better promises.Increase Is Your RightGod is interested in you increasing in every area of your life. Now, obviously, everyone would agree God wants us to increasespiritually. If you’ve been serving God a number of years and youhaven’t grown spiritually, then something is wrong. God expectsyou to grow spiritually; to not grow is a violation of spiritual law.He also expects you to grow where your soul is concerned. Your soulis made up of your mind, your will, and your emotions. The Bibletalks about the prosperity of your soul in 3 John 2. Prosperity of thesoul would be your mind being renewed to the Word of God, yourwill being conformed to His will, and your emotions being underthe control of God’s Word. You should also be increasing in the area of your health, experiencingthe divine health that is ours through Jesus Christ. The Bible says, Hesent His word and healed them (Psalm 107:20). If you’re spendingquality time in the Word, then it should have an effect on yourphysical well-being.So you know you should increase spiritually, mentally (or soulishly),and physically. And God also expects that as you serve Him and putHis Word first place in your life, there should be signs of financialincrease. There is absolutely no way you can walk with God, keepHis covenant, and not experience financial increase—it has to come! Now, I didn’t say it would come overnight or in a matter of days, but it will come.God has a way for you to experience increase in every area of yourlife, and He laid it out in His Word. But remember, in a covenantboth parties take an oath exchanging their very selves, and both areresponsible for meeting the conditions of that oath.Your Three ResponsibilitiesAs we read earlier, God’s covenant of increase was originallyexpressed through the blessing (the empowerment to prosper) thatHe bestowed on mankind in the beginning. The full list of God’sblessings is laid out in Deuteronomy 28, but I want to call yourattention to the conditions that must be met for us to experiencethese blessings:And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently untothe voice of the LORD your God, to observe and to do all hiscommandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thyGod will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: And all theseblessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee (Deuteronomy28:1–2 KJV).The first thing I want you to notice is the word “if,” which reveals acondition of the covenant. The things promised will happen if youmeet your three responsibilities. What are these responsibilities? Thefirst thing you have to do is listen (hearken diligently) to what GodYou have beenEMPOWEREDto prosper, tosucceed,to exceland to increase!

is saying. Next, you must be willingto observe. This means you must givecareful, respectful attention to. Andlastly, you must do what God says.Let me just say that God always blessesobedience. This means a blessed lifeis an obedient life. Obedience is theact of submitting to God’s commands. It’s doing whatever God might ask youto do. Every person in the Bible whoconducted his or her life in an obedientmanner lived a blessed life. If youwant to experience all the blessingsthat are yours within your covenantof increase, if you want to increaseGod’s way, then obedience is a must.So hearken diligently, observe, and doall that God commands you to do. Ifyou will do these three things, thenthe blessings will come on you andovertake you. It’s only a matter of time. And remember, God wouldn’t ask youto do anything that you couldn’t do.You can do it! You can do these threesimple things—hearken diligently, observe, do—that are required for youto experience increase God’s way.The Heart of the MatterNow let’s just be honest. I know a lotof people think that as Christianswe are supposed to be poor. And bybeing poor that somehow means weare more spiritual. But this is a lie—it’sjust not true. You can’t find this ideaanywhere in the Bible. The truth is, when you are prosperousand successful, you have moreopportunities to influence people. Itgives you a greater voice. It makes yourGod look attractive. He knows you cando more for the kingdom when youare blessed. God wants you blessed sothat you can be a blessing. He wantsyou blessed so that you can preventmisfortune in the lives of others. Hewants you blessed so that you can helpspread the life-changing message ofJesus Christ to a hurting and dyingworld. He wants you blessed in everyarea of your life—spirit, soul, andbody. It’s your covenant right. That being said, we must keep all this6 / AIFin its proper perspective. God’s intentis for you to be blessed and experienceincrease; however, He never intendedfor blessing and increase to be yournumber one pursuit. God wantsyou to make Him your number onepursuit. True prosperity and successare the result of having an intimaterelationship with Him.When I asked God to show me Hisdefinition of success, I was surprisedwhen He led me to this scripture: Hehas shown you, O man, what is good;and what does the LORD require of youbut to do justly, to love mercy, and towalk humbly with your God? (Micah6:8). As I began to pray and meditateon that scripture, I sensed the Spiritof God saying that a life of integrity, loving mercy (or being compassionatetoward others), and then walkinghumbly before God (never forgettingthat without Him I’m nothing; alwaysacknowledging Him as the source ofeverything good in my life) was beingsuccessful.Integrity, compassion, humility, andfaithfulness are issues of the heart. And let me say to you right now thatnothing is more important to Godthan what is in a person’s heart. God’scovenant of increase has nothing todo with your natural abilities; it haseverything to do with the conditionof your heart.God is looking for integrity andcompassion. He’s looking for humilityand faithfulness. So, if you’re a personof integrity, if you walk in love, if youremain humble, and if you are faithful, then your heart is conditioned for trueprosperity and success.Subject to ChangeGod wants you to experience increasein every area of your life—spirit, soul, and body. And this includes yourfinances. Increase is your covenantright, so it doesn’t matter if you arein debt right now. It doesn’t matter ifyour bank account says zero. Increaseis what God says is in store for you; it’sHis plan for your life.I was preaching at a Full GospelBusinessmen’s Convention in 1984when the Lord led me to 2 Corinthians4:18: We do not look at the thingswhich are seen, but at the things whichare not seen. For the things which areseen are temporary, but the thingswhich are not seen are eternal. WhenI looked at the words “things whichare seen are temporary,” the Lord said,“Son, that means subject to change.”That scripture became revelation to me,and the foundation for maintaining myconfidence in situations that appearedto be permanent. So don’t countyourself out, even if your situationdoesn’t look as if increase is in yourfuture. Whatever you may be goingthrough may appear to be permanent, but if you can see it, it’s not. It’s subjectto change.Remember, if you’ve met the conditionsof the covenant then the blessings ofGod’s covenant of increase are alreadyyours. Now it’s up to you to lay hold ofthem by faith and walk in them!Increase By Association, will teach youthat the anointing for increase is contagiousand comes primarily by association. Get aroundthe right people and the same anointing willcome upon you. Who you associate withhas everything do do with your destiny! This message came to Jerry Savelle by revelationof the Holy Spirit and has had a profound impactupon thousands of people all over the world.Order online at:www.JerrySavelle.org/store

O U RC O V E N A N TO FINCREASEby Carolyn SavelleWhen Jerry shared with me the themeof this issue of our magazine, I couldn’thelp but think about the goodnessof God and His plan shown to manthrough the scriptures. Romans 8:17,“And if children, then heirs; heirs ofGod and joint heirs with Christ.”As heirs of God’s promises throughJesus Christ, this covenant of increase isour heritage. I looked up the definitionof covenant in the Noah Webster 1828Dictionary. This is what I found.Covenant: A mutual consent oragreement of two or more persons,to do or forbear some act or thing, acontract. A covenant
