KIRWANCENTER FOR ACADEMIC INNOVATION, UNIVERSITY SYSTEM OF MARYLANDDr. MJ Bishop directs the University System ofMaryland’s (USM) William E. Kirwan Center forAcademic Innovation, which was established in2013 to enhance USM’s position as a nationalleader in higher education transformation. TheKirwan Center conducts research on best practices,disseminates findings, and supports the System’sinstitutions as they develop innovative academicprograms. Prior to USM, Dr. Bishop was AssociateProfessor of Instructional Design and Technologyat Lehigh University and Director of the College ofEducation’s Teaching, Learning, and TechnologyProgram. Author of numerous peer-reviewed publications, her research exploreshow instructional media might be designed and used more effectively to improvelearning. She has received several awards for her research and innovative teaching,including Lehigh’s prestigious Stabler Award, conferred by students to faculty whohave mentored them to “excellence in their chosen field” as well as “excellence ashuman beings and leaders of society.”THIS EVENT IS BEING RECORDED.
