Starting mid-January 2010, you canrequest a kit, free of charge, for each 2009 modelyou have in your new vehicle inventory (2010models come with the new shielding alreadyinstalled). We will provide you a list of VN1700models delivered to your dealership shortly.Additionally, current owners will be notified bymail after the first of the year that a kit is availableand they can contact their Kawasaki dealer toschedule an appointment for installation of thekit. A copy of the letter is printed on the lastpage of this bulletin. Kawasaki will reimburseinstallation costs as explained below at yourstandard labor rate.PARTS KITS COMING SOON!Heat shield kits will be available after January 18,2010. Remove the tape from the frame rails.Install the clutch hose in the clamp on the leftframe tube. CLEAN GUARDPRIOR TO INSTALLINGINSULATIONFront Cylinder Exhaust CoveroNOTE:Apply penetrating oil to the exhaust coverclamp screws prior to loosening. Loosen the exhaust pipe cover clamp screws.Remove and discard the exhaust cover.Install the provided Insulation to the exhaustpipe cover as shown below picture.REMOVE &DISCARDo NOTE:Insulation should be installed so it does notinterfere with the clamp stay.Install exhaust pipe cover provided in the kit.Rear Cylinder Exhaust Cover Insulationo NOTE:Apply penetrating oil to the exhaust coverclamp screws prior to loosening.CLAMPSTAY REMOVEoINSULATIONRemove the rear cylinder exhaust pipe cover.NOTE:Remove any oil or dirt from back of exhaustpipe cover.Reinstall the exhaust pipe cover with installedinsulation.
