Features and BenefitsControls—ReliaTelReliaTel microprocessor controls provide unit control for heating, cooling and ventilating utilizinginput from sensors that measure indoor and outdoor temperature and other zone sensors. ReliaTelalso provides outputs for building automation systems and expanded diagnostics. For a completelist of ReliaTel offerings, refer to “Other Benefits,” p. 15.Conversionless UnitsThe dedicated design units (either downflow or horizontal) require no panel removal or alterationtime to convert in the field — a major cost savings during installation. Horizontal units comecomplete with duct flanges so the contractor doesn’t have to field fabricate them. These ductflanges are a time and cost saver.Crankcase HeatersThese band or insertion heaters provide improved compressor reliability by warming the oil toprevent migration during off-cycles or low ambient conditions. These are standard on all Voyagermodels.Discharge Line ThermostatA bi-metal element discharge line thermostats installed as a standard feature on the discharge lineof each system. This standard feature provides extra protection to the compressors against highdischarge temperatures in case of loss of charge, extremely high ambient and other conditionswhich could drive the discharge temperature higher.EfficienciesStandard or High Efficiency Cooling available.Easy Access Low Voltage Terminal BoardFoil Faced InsulationVoyager’s Low Voltage Terminal Board isexternal to the electrical control cabinet. It isextremely easy to locate and attach thethermostat wire and test operation of all unitfunctions. This is another cost and time savinginstallation feature. All panels in the evaporator section of the unithave cleanable foil-faced insulation. All edgesare either captured or sealed to ensure noinsulation fibers get into the airstream.Heat Exchanger—Drum and TubeThe cabinet features a drum and tube heatexchanger (pictured right) that ismanufactured using aluminized steel withstainless steel components for maximumdurability. The requirement for cycle testing of heatexchangers is 10,000 cycles by ANSI Z21.47.This is the standard required by both UL andAGA for cycle test requirements.RT-PRC028-ENForced Combustion BlowerNegative Pressure Gas ValveHot Surface Ignitor7

Features and BenefitsTrane requires the design to be tested to 2½ times this current standard. The drum and tube designhas been tested and passed over 150,000 cycles, which is over 15 times the current ANSI cyclingrequirements. The negative pressure gas valve is used in the standard furnaces. This is one of ourunique safety features. Modulating heaters use a pressure switch to ensure that the blower motoris operating before the gas valve is allowed to open. The forced combustion blower supplies pre-mixed fuel through a single stainless steel burnerscreen into a sealed drum where ignition takes place. It is more reliable to operate and maintainthan a multiple burner system. Modulating furnaces contain a metal fiber material to ensure properflame distribution at low fire. The hot surface ignitor is a gas ignition device which doubles as asafety device utilizing a continuous test to prove the flame. The design is cycle tested at the factoryfor quality and reliability. Our gas/electric rooftops exceed all California seasonal efficiencyrequirements and perform even better than the California NOx emission requirements.Low Ambient CoolingAll Voyager microprocessor units have cooling capabilities down to 0 F as standard.Low Voltage ConnectionsThe wiring of the low voltage connections to the unit andthe zone sensors is as simple as 1-1, 2-2, and 3-3. Thissimplified system makes it easy for the installer to wire.Microchannel Condenser CoilMicrochannel Flat TubeHeader(top removed)Ribbon FinMicrochannel coils have better heat transferperformance due to flat streamlined tubes withsmall ports, and metallurgical tube-to-fin bond.Microchannel condenser coil can reduce systemrefrigerant charge by up to 50% (potential LEEDcredit) because of smaller internal volume, whichcan lead to better compressor reliability. Compactall aluminum microchannel coils also help to reducethe unit weight. All-aluminum constructionimproves re-cyclability. Galvanic corrosion is alsominimized due to all aluminum construction. Strongaluminum brazed structure provides better finprotection.MotorsAll indoor fan motors are belt drive as standard.Pressure CutoutsLow and high pressure cutouts are standard on all Voyager models.Phase MonitorVoyager features a three-phase line monitor module that protects against phase loss, phasereversal and phase unbalance. It is intended to protect compressors from reverse rotation. It hasan operating input voltage range of 190–600 Vac, and LED indicators for ON and FAULT. There areno field adjustments and the module will automatically reset from a fault condition.8RT-PRC028-EN

Features and BenefitsQuick-Access PanelsRemove three or more screws for access to thestandardized internal components and wiring.Quick-Adjust Slider PlateWith the Quick-Adjust Slider Plate (pictured right), thebelt and sheaves can be quickly adjusted withoutmoving the mounted fan motor. The result is a majorsavings in time and money.Single Point PowerA single electrical connection powers the unit.Single Side ServiceSingle side service is standard on all units.Sloped Drain PansEvery Voyager unit has a non-corrosive, sloped drain pan made of pre-painted steel and standardon all units.Standardized ComponentsComponents are placed in the same location on all Voyager units. Familiarize yourself with oneVoyager and you are familiar with every Voyager. Due to standardized components throughout theVoyager line, contractors/owners can stock fewer parts.U-Shaped Airflow PatternThe U-shaped airflow allows for improved static capabilities.Variable Frequency Drives - VFD (Multispeed Indoor Fan, VAV, and SZ VAVOnly)Variable Frequency Drives are factory installed and tested to provide supply fan motor speedmodulation, as well as modulating gas heat. VFDs on the supply fan, as compared to inlet guidevanes or discharge dampers, are quieter, more efficient, and are eligible for utility rebates. All VFDsare designed to allow bypass if required. Bypass control will simply provide full nominal airflowin the event of drive failure. Modulating gas heat models with VFDs allow tighter space temperaturecontrol with less temperature swing.Variety of Options1Factory Installed OptionsCO2 Sensor WiringThis is the unit wiring for field installed C02 sensors. Factory-installed C02 sensor wiring saves timeand ensures proper unit connections for the field installed C02 sensor kits.Complete Coat Condenser CoilThe cathodic epoxy type electrodisposition coating is formulated for high edge build to a numberof different types of heat exchangers. The coating is selected to provide excellent resistance anddurability to corrosive effects of alkalies, acids, alcohols, petroleum, seawater, salt air, andcorrosive environments. This coating is available for microchannel coils only.1Refer to “Model Number Description,” p. 22 for option availability.RT-PRC028-EN9

Features and BenefitsCircuit Breaker (Required with Through-the-Base Electrical)This option is a factory installed thermal magnetic, molded case, HACR Circuit Breaker withprovisions for through the base electrical connections. Available on all models.Condensate Overflow SwitchA condensate overflow switch is available to shut the unit down in the event that the condensatedrain line becomes clogged. This option protects the unit from water overflowing from the drainpan and entering the base of the units.Dehumidification (Hot Gas Reheat)This option allows for increased outdoor air ventilation. It reduces humidity levels while increasingcomfort level in the air space. Cooling can operate without a demand for dehumidification. The hotgas reheat coil is designed to deliver maximum reheat temperature.Delivered VAVTrane provides true pressure independent variable air volume with Voyager II delivered VAV.
