Our purpose is rootedin the passion and proven expertise of our people,to use science and innovation to create sustainablesolutions for the complex challenges facing our world.What we didn’t know at the time was how quickly ourpurpose and resolve would be tested.Our actions are shaped by our strategic priorities to drive changeby addressing megatrends like climate change, circular economy,water stewardship, product safety and transparency and healthand wellness. The 2030 Sustainability Goals we launched in 2019underscore the importance of our collective action as a companyand a global community, bringing sustainable innovations to marketwhile reducing negative impacts along the value chain.Our commitment to transparency and sustainability also includesour policies and protocols. Always guided by the science, this pastyear, we established a set of bold commitments to manage per- andpolyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). I’m pleased with the progress ondelivering promises we made in 2019. Specifically, we eliminated theuse of long-chain PFAS from our processes, including recently integratedoperations. GRI 205-2.All DuPont employees are expected to understand and complywith the DuPont Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct also appliesto all of our subsidiaries, affiliated companies, and joint venturesin which we have a majority interest or operating responsibility.It includes our company policies on matters of business ethics,anti-corruption, and conflicts of interest and requires everyemployee to conduct the company’s business with integrity,in compliance with applicable laws, and in a way that excludesconsideration of their own personal advantage.The DuPont Code of Conduct is available in 24 languages onwww.dupont.com. The Code of Conduct explains in detail whatwe mean by our core value of highest ethical behavior. Employeesreceive annual training and frequent communications on the Codeof Conduct, and we provide training resources via our employeeintranet. For example: Every year, all DuPont employees worldwide must complete theDuPont Code of Conduct course — a web-based training modulecovering ethics, anti-corruption, and related topics — and becertified in Business Ethics and Compliance. Periodically issued Business Ethics Bulletins andETHICSConnections highlight positive and negative behaviorsand increase our shared understanding of the Code of Conductand the seriousness of ethical misconduct. New employees receive training on our core values and theDuPont Code of Conduct. Each DuPont function and business unit has an Ethics &Compliance Champion, who plays a key role in improvingand advancing ethics and compliance within their part of thecompany and helps coordinate ethics and compliance training.Once a year, members of the DuPont Board of Directors haveto complete an added level of compliance, by signing andacknowledging their obligations under the Code of BusinessConduct and Ethics for the DuPont Board of Directors.The DuPont Code of Conduct also outlines our global policy andcommitments to external initiatives in the areas of human rights,respect for people, and freedom of association, among others.Reporting ethics concernsGRI 102-17.Employees must report all suspected ethics violations promptlythrough one of the various channels available to employees andthe public. All potential ethical breaches are reviewed by the GlobalEthics Investigations (GEI) team, which is part of an independentEthics & Compliance Central (ECC) function that answers directly tothe DuPont Board of Directors. The GEI team reviews all allegationsDuPont 2020 GRI Indexand oversees all investigations, coordinating when necessarywith Corporate Security, HR, Legal, and other parts of DuPont.The team has been trained in fraud prevention and detection,forensic accounting, law enforcement, and other relevant disciplines.When an incident involves suspected corruption or any otherviolations of our core values, the GEI team will gather theinformation needed for a decision on whether to pursue theissue — which could then lead to disciplinary action, a root causeanalysis, and related control improvements, if appropriate.DuPont offers multiple channels to report suspected misconduct.Employees and the general public can report ethics concernsthrough management, HR, the DuPont Hotline, our online reportingportal or directly to a Compliance Officer or Champion. This sitewill allow you to create a unique user ID and set up a passwordto submit a confidential concern to the third-party provider.The concern will be handled following the same process thatis in place for hotline calls.The DuPont Ethics and Compliance Hotline is a multilingual andfree phone number that is available to anyone with a DuPontrelated ethics concern, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in more than25 languages. Callers can choose to remain anonymous, and anyresulting investigations are confidential. Lessons learned frominvestigations are communicated through our Business EthicsBulletins, Ethics Connections, and other training avenues,while protecting the privacy of those involved.In 2019, DuPont received 180 ethics complaints, resulting in21 disciplinary actions.Human rightsGRI 102-16. GRI 414-1.DuPont is committed to protecting and advancing human rightswherever we operate.We’ve based our Human Rights Policy and Principles on Child andForced Labor on our core values. We also endorse the 10 Principlesin the UN Global Compact. The DuPont Code of Conduct outlinesour global policy and commitments to external initiatives in theareas of human rights, respect for people, and freedom ofassociation, among others.Compliance with these policies and applicable laws is everyemployee’s responsibility and we work to identify and do businesswith partners who aspire to conduct their business in a similarmanner. The DuPont Supplier Code of Conduct sets out expectationsfor our suppliers in relation to our core values, including humanrights. Also, language requiring respect for human rights is includedin our contracts with suppliers and other business partners.11

GRI 414-2.With our diverse portfolio of businesses, globalfootprint, and extensive operations, DuPont operatesa highly complex, integrated supply chain. While it’sdifficult to succinctly summarize every aspect of oursupply chain, in general, DuPont businesses processconstituent materials through manufacturing stagesto produce goods for our customers.DuPont works with approximately 52,000 suppliers from 53countries worldwide. In 2019, we spent about 12.9 billion withthese suppliers, 597 million of which was spent on energyand feedstocks.All DuPont suppliers are expected to uphold the DuPont SupplierCode of Conduct, which includes the principles of the UnitedNations Global Compact, and details supplier expectations onmatters of the environment, labor, human rights, and impacts onsociety. We include the Supplier Code of Conduct in our Terms andConditions for all supplier purchase orders. This is in addition toexisting contract language and other mechanisms that are in placeto make sure our suppliers adhere to our Human Rights Policy,Supplier Code, and with all applicable laws and regulations.We assess all new suppliers across various risk parametersincluding quality, geo-political stability, supply condition andsecurity, health and safety, regulatory compliance, ethics andbusiness conduct, environmental controls, human rights andmore. DuPont businesses systematically perform additionalreviews for suppliers that have a relevant risk profile for any ofthe aforementioned categories. As noted in our Supplier Codeof Conduct, we reserve the right to audit our suppliers regardingadherence to the Code of Conduct and other relevant DuPontpolicies. We also expect our suppliers to adhere to all applicablelaws and regulations, including labor laws, environmentalregulations and product safety and transparency regulationssuch as REACH for Europe and other parts of the world.Supplier diversityThrough our Supplier Diversity Program, we’re working to includesmall and diverse businesses among our sources of supply andhelp these businesses develop into competitive suppliers.We work closely with local, small, and diverse suppliers tohelp them understand the DuPont business model and otherelements of our procurement strategy.DuPont 2020 GRI IndexGuided by 11 key performance indicators (KPIs), our goals includeincreasing the total amount of our spending with these suppliers,ensuring that they’re included in our competitive bid process, andsponsoring and attending outreach events. We engage our topsuppliers to support supplier diversity, and we reinforce thisexpectation in our Supplier Code of Conduct, which encouragesour suppliers to develop a diverse supply base themselves insupport of the materials and services they provide to us. In fact,one of our KPIs is measuring “Tier II” spend — what our suppliersspend with diverse suppliers in the performance of their workwith DuPont.In 2019, we spent a total of 449 million with 154,000 small anddiverse suppliers in the U.S.Sustainable sourcingGRI 102-9. GRI 414-2.We are aware of stakeholder concerns related to the sourcingof certain feedstocks, most notably environmental and laborissues that may impact regions where palm oil is sourced.For our management practices related to this and otherfeedstocks please see the following sections. We are notaware of any significant environmental, labor, or humanrights impacts in our supply chain that occurred in 2019.Dupont’s Nutrition & Biosciences business joined the SustainableAgriculture Initiative (SAI) Platform in 2018. SAI Platform is the globalfood and drink industry platform for developing collaborative,member-driven sustainable agriculture solutions with a goal ofcatalyzing change and establishing sustainable agriculture as apre-requisite for doing business throughout the food and drinkindustry supply chain. As a SAI Platform member, DuPont isactively participating in that process.For example, we’re taking part in SAI Platform’s Wild Harvestproject, which aims to create an industry-aligned reference forsustainable sourcing of wild harvested ingredients such as berries,rosehips, mushrooms, and nuts.12

Consistent with our core values and our commitmentto safety, health and the environment, our Nutrition & Biosciencesbusiness has taken steps to responsibly manage our palm oilsourcing, including: Supporting the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO)since 2004. Becoming the first in the industry to offer RSPO-certifiedsustainable emulsifiers from a mass balance source in 2009,and in 2011 bringing the first palm oil-based products from asegregated supply chain to the market. Contributing to the WWF Palm Oil Scorecard. In 2019, we doubledour score, showing our continuous improvement in this space.
