209 Page TwoTwenty- fourth Sunday in Ordinary TimeNOTES FROM THE PASTORDear Saint Dorothy Family,We hear the Lord Jesus in today’sGospel asking his Disciples, “Who dopeople say that I am?”. We have heard this Gospeloften and because we are so familiar with the words,we may not really hear them. St. Peter answers for thegroup by proclaiming, “You are the Christ”. Peter andhis companions began this journey as ordinary menwho were called from their everyday labors to follow anitinerant preacher. During their time with Jesus, theyhave sat at his feet as He proclaimed the Good Newsthat the kingdom of God has drawn near, watched asHe healed those who were ill, and witnessed himcasting out demons. Notice that their discipleship isnot based on a printed catechism or set of beliefs, butit is based on their relationship with Jesus, the Lord.Take the words of today’s Gospel personally. Openyour ears, as Isaiah the prophet does, and askyourselves, “Who is Jesus?”. As we reflect on our livesthus far, we all know that Jesus wants to be anessential partner with us. He wants us to consult himand trust him as we make our decisions throughoutour lives. This question we face today about Jesus’ identity isfound in all of the Synoptic Gospels. As we listen tothe Word of the Lord, and as we approach his table toshare the Eucharist, make an Act of Faith andproclaim with all of your hearts, minds, and souls,“You, Jesus, are the Christ and the Savior of the world”.God bless you,Father MurphySeptember 12, 2021Financial FactsWe thank those parishioners who, recognizing God’s gifts tothem, make their response in our weekly collection. Simplyset up St. Dorothy Church as a new payee as you would dowith any other service provider then set up periodicpayments. You can use the ID number that is directly aboveyour family name and address on the Sunday FamilyEnvelope. This will be your account number for St. DorothyChurch. The advantage to the parish is that “Bill Pay”provides a steadier and predictable cash flow.Theadvantage to parishioners is the convenience of avoiding lastminute check preparation, and the ability to direct Billpayments to occur soon after the receipt of your paycheck(rather than always making offerings on a Sunday), forexample: once a month, bi-weekly, weekly, etc. Join thegrowing number of parishioners who are taking advantage ofthe benefits of using this popular feature. We are very excited to announce that St. Dorothy Parish isnow able to accept Sunday Contributions via VENMO at@St-Dorothy.Thank you for patronizing the businesses that advertise in thisbulletin. St. Dorothy Parish receives income from the bulletinpublisher which is then used to offset a portion of parishexpenses. Therefore, your support of these advertisers is verymuch appreciated.
