12THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR VEHICLEA WORD ABOUT YOUR KEYSYour vehicle uses a keyless ignition system. This systemconsists of a Key Fob with Remote Keyless Entry (RKE)transmitter and a Keyless Ignition Node (KIN).The Keyless Ignition Node (KIN) has four operatingpositions, three of which are labeled and will illuminatewhen in position. The three positions are OFF, ACC, andON/RUN. The fourth position is START, during startRUN will illuminate.Keyless Enter-N-Go FeatureThis vehicle is equipped with the Keyless Enter-N-Go NOTE: In case the ignition switch does not change withfeature, refer to “Starting Procedure” in “Starting And the push of a button, the RKE transmitter (Key Fob) mayhave a low or dead battery. Youcan keep the emergency key with you when valet parking.Keyless Ignition Node (KIN)1 — OFF2 — ACC (ACCESSORY)3 — ON/RUN2

Refer to “Uconnect Touch Settings” in “Understanding Your Instrument Panel” forfurther information.Emergency Key RemovalNOTE: You can insert the double-sided emergency keyinto the lock cylinders with either side up.

(Continued) Before exiting a vehicle, always apply the parkingbrake, shift the transmission into PARK, and remove the key fob from the ignition. When leavingthe vehicle, always lock your vehicle. Never leave children alone in a vehicle, or withaccess to an unlocked vehicle. Allowing children to be in a vehicle unattended isdangerous for a number of reasons. A child orothers could be seriously or fatally injured. Children should be warned not to touch the parkingbrake, brake pedal or the shift lever. Do not leave the key fob in or near the vehicle, anddo not leave Keyless Enter-N-Go in the ACC orON/RUN mode. A child could operate power windows, other controls, or move the vehicle. Do not leave children or animals inside parkedvehicles in hot weather. Interior heat build-up maycause serious injury or death.CAUTION!An unlocked car is an invitation to thieves. Alwaysremove the Key Fob from vehicle, cycle the ignitionOFF and lock all doors when leaving the vehicleunattended.SENTRY KEY姞The Sentry Key威 Immobilizer system prevents unauthorized vehicle operation by disabling the engine. Thesystem does not need to be armed or activated. Operationis automatic, regardless of whether the vehicle is locked(Continued) or unlocked.2

16THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR VEHICLEThe system uses a Key Fob with Remote Keyless Entry(RKE) transmitter, a Keyless Ignition Node (KIN) and aRF receiver to prevent unauthorized vehicle operation.Therefore, only Key Fobs that are programmed to thevehicle can be used to start and operate the vehicle.After cycling the ignition to the ON/RUN position, theVehicle Security Light will turn on for three seconds for abulb check. If the light remains on after the bulb check, itindicates that there is a problem with the electronics. Inaddition, if the light begins to flash after the bulb check,it indicates that someone used an invalid Key Fob to startthe engine. Either of these conditions will result in theengine being shut off after two seconds.CAUTION!The Sentry Key威 Immobilizer system is not compatible with some after-market remote starting systems.Use of these systems may result in vehicle startingproblems and loss of security protection.All of the Key Fobs provided with your new vehicle havebeen programmed to the vehicle electronics.Replacement KeysNOTE: Only Key Fobs that are programmed to thevehicle electronics can be used to start and operate thevehicle. If something triggers the alarm, the Vehicle Security Alarm will providethe following audible and visible signals: the horn willpulse, the headlights will turn on, the park lamps and/orturn signals will flash, and the Vehicle Security Light inthe instrument cluster will flash.Rearming Of The SystemIf something triggers the alarm, and no action is taken todisarm it, the Vehicle Security Alarm will turn the hornoff after three minutes, turn all of the visual signals offafter 15 additional minutes, and then the Vehicle SecurityAlarm will rearm itself.To Arm The SystemFollow these steps to arm the Vehicle Security Alarm: For vehicles equipped with Keyless Enter-N-Go, makesure the vehicle ignition system is OFF . For vehicles not equipped with Keyless Enter-N-Go,make sure the vehicle ignition system is OFF and thekey is physically removed from the ignition.2. Perform one of the following methods to lock thevehicle: Press LOCK on the interior power door lock switchwith the driver and/or passenger door open.
