Pro/E WILDFIRE, week5-11. Change working directory to C:/Documents andSettings/students/22.201 sec 8012. Go http://faculty.uml.edu/bkim/22.201/material.htm anddownload lesson5.prt into your working directory.3. Open the file.1

Click Tools Model Player to see 2

You can regenerate the sequence of creation.3

Get to feat#6 and select “Feat Info”4

Click Info Model to see model information.5

Select “inside cut”, hold down RMB and select“Suppress”. It is hiding(not deleting) the unusedfeature in your work now.6

Click “Refresh” Now, you see “INSIDE CUT” issuppressed.7

To get the feature back into the geometry, click Edit Resume Last Set8

To change the reference for the inner cut, select “Edit References”9

Click always “Yes”10

This isyourcurrentsketchplane.Look at the message window. You canchange your sketch here. Click the other sideof the block.11

Now, you can change your reference plane. Ifyou do not want to change, click “Same Ref”12

Now, you can change your dimensioning ref.Click “Same Ref” three times.13

The sketch is extruded based on thechanged sketch plane.14

ROUND END is a parent of TOP CUT.Surface id 34 is used to make therelationship.15

We’ll use different surface. HighlightTOP CUT and click “Edit References”16

Roll back? Yes. Select an alternative sketchplane-”Same Ref”. Now, you see top planeof the ROUND END (Surface id 34) wasused as reference plane for the TOP CUT.Select top plane of the block which is not17belong to ROUND END.

At select an alternative dimensioning ,click “Same Ref” three times. Checkparent/child relationship of TOP CUT. Nowthere is no surface connection ROUNDEND to TOP CUT.18

Pro/E WILDFIRE, week5-21. Change working directory to C:/Documents andSettings/students/22.201 sec 8012. File New Name is “cutter”19

Click Right and Top datum plane with Ctrl keydown and click “Datum Axis Tool”. With this20datum axis, we’ll create new datum axis.

Click “Datum Plane Tool” to create a datumplane.21

If you switch “Through” constraints to “Normal”, you seethe datum plane is normal to the selected datum axis. Please back to “Through”.22

Hold down CTRL key, and select the Rightdatum. This is now listed with “Offset(rotation)” constraint. Set to value to 30. Nowwe create “DTM1”.23

Click “Extrude Tool”. Set value to 2 and “Both Sides”. Click“placement” and “define” to choose sketch plane.24

Front datum is the sketch plane. Right datum is the ref. planeand orientation is right.25

Select Sketch References and select “DTM1” to add anotherref. plane.26

Draw a Φ8 circle. Click the circle, hold down RMB and choose“Construction” Then, the circle is a construction circle. The 27circle will not contribute to solid geometry.

Draw Φ12 circles at here. You can draw another Φ12circle when the center is on the construction circle and28directly below the center of the top circle.

Complete the sketch by trimming. And checkand check.29

Click “Hole” tool and click this surface to place ahole.30

Change Φ8 and “Through all”. Move the handles to the Topand the Right plane. Make the offsets zero. Check.31

Click “Datum Plane” and select Right datum plane. Offset is 8.You create another datum plane based on the Right datum 32plane.

Click “Extrude Tool” and select placement define. ChooseDTM2 as a sketch plane and Top as ref. plane. Orientation is 33top.

Click Sketch References and choose front and back plane of thecutter to add as refs.34

TOP planeSketch this on DTM2. Check.35

Depth of the extrusion is 2 into outside. Check.36

Click “Hole Tool” and select DTM2. Drag two handles to TOP andFront datum plane. Change offset to align at the offset reference.37Diameter is 1.

In the Shape slide-up panel, set the side1 “Blind” and enoughlength to cut and side 2 depths to “To Next”. Check.38

Select hole and cutter, hold down RMB and choose Group.39

Select “Pattern Tool” to copy the selected features.40

Switch to Axis. Select A 1 as the axis for copy. Put 3 as numberof copy including itself and 120 for the angle to copy the pattern.41Check.

Done.42

Assignment week5-1: Draw this (Jack O’Lantern) and print itas shown in the figure. (Its dimension is up to you)43

44HW week#5-2 and 5-3

Pro/E WILDFIRE, week5-2. 20 Click Right and Top datum plane with Ctrl key down and click “Datum Axis Tool”. With this datum axis, we’ll create new datum axis. 21 Click “Datum Plane Tool” to create a datum plane. 22
