Needle Roll er BearingsNeedle Roller Bearings and Universal JointBearingsLYC’s needle roller bearings have small axialsection dimension, good rigidity and capacity tocarry high radial loads, which are suitable forlimited radial installing when positions. These arewidely applied under working situation withswinging shaft and bearing housing. However,needle roller bearing can only carry pure radialload, but, can't prevent the axial displacementbetween shaft and bearing housing. In addition,the angle error for inner axle and outer axle is notallowed.Type NA, RNALYC’s standard needle roller bearings are NAtype, which has flange or spring lock ring at the twosides of outer ring, and a flangeless inner ring.There are two structures including single row anddouble rows. Either the single or double-rowbearings can be produced into type NA with innerring, or type RNA without inner ring.For larger sizes, there are circularity lubricationgrooves and holes on outer ring. Outer assemblyof type NA's (outer ring, needle rollers and cage)are non-separated, but inner ring can be partedfrom outer assembly.When needle rollers bearings are without aninner ring, its rollers would have direct contactwith shaft surface. In this way, the hardness anddimension of journal must reach the requirementsof bearing raceway.Type NAV, RNAVBearings of type NAV and RNAV are filled withrollers without a cage. These are another typederived from type NA and RNA. Their carryingcapacity is larger than type NA and RNA.However the rotating speeds are lower.Type NAOType NAO have a flangeless inner ring and outerring, with two structures as single row and doublerows. For double-row needle roller bearing, it hasa lubrication groove and hole on the outer ring.Type KType K is also called “needle and cage assembly”without an inner and outer ring, it has the smallestradial dimension of bearing. It works directly onshaft surface and bearing housing, so thematching shaft and bearing houses must ensurehardness and dimensional accuracy.239Long Cylindrical Roller BearingsThe characteristics of long cylindrical rollerbearings are similar to needle roller bearing,however, their radial section dimensions are largerthan needle roller bearings. Therefore, they cancarry a larger radial load.For the long cylindrical roller and needle roller, thelength-diameter ratios are both greater than 3. Themajor difference is that the former's roller length isover 5mm, the later is smaller than 5mm. So theyare mostly similar on their structures.Similar to the needle roller bearing, long cylindricalroller bearings can also only take pure radial load,but, do not prevent the axial displacementbetween the shaft and bearing housing,additionaly, the angle error for inner axial and outeraxial is not allowed.Type NAOLSimilar to the type NAO, bearings of type NAOLhave flangeless inner ring and outer ring.Type NALSimilar to type NA, these bearings have flangesor spring lock rings at the two sides of outer ring,but, are without a flange on inner ring.Universal Joint BearingsLYC’s universal joint bearing has a outer ring witha particular figured structure and an assemblyside and full set of rollers or needle rollers, but, iswithout a inner ring. Universal joint bearingsusually have a shield or sealed cup to preventcontaminants entering into bearing.The universal joint bearing is widely used inuniversal joint applications such as motor, steelmills, crane, and transport machinery. The rings ofthis type of bearing are required to be speciallyheat treated, so that it can endure heavy impactloads. The design of this smaller sectiondimension allows space saving in the structure ofuniversal joint cross axis.The universal joint bearing works directly on theshaft surface and bearing housing. Therefore, thematching shaft and bearing housing mustmaintain enough hardness and dimensionalprecision.LYC can provide other structures of needle rollerbearings or long cylindrical roller bearing to meetcustomers requirements, such as needle rollerbearing (or long cylindrical roller bearing) with apressed outer ring etc. All these configurationscan not be listed here. If customers require theseapplications, please consult the LYC technicaldepartment.CageLYC’s needle roller bearings are supplied with apressed steel cage, a machined solid cage orglass fiber reinforced polyamide 66 on otherengineering plastics. The cages of materials areidentified by a suffix, these suffix are explained inthe chapter “LYC Bearing Designation”.Minimum loadIn order to maintain bearings working in a goodcondition, a minimum load must be imposed onbearings, particularly on bearings working at highspeeds, with high accelerations, or with the loaddirection changing frequently, because under theseworking conditions, inertial force of balls and cageand lubricant friction will have bad influence onthe rotation of bearings, and detrimental slidingmovement may be caused.The minimum load of a needle roller bearing canbe obtained from.clearance is group 0. If customers have additionalspecial requirements on dimension, tolerance, andclearance, then LYC have the ability to supply thecorresponding products, including non-standardtype.Equivalent Dynamic (Static) LoadThis type of bearing can only carry pure radialload, so the equivalent dynamic load is the sameas its equivalent static load.
