CHAPTER 1Introduction to ConsciousnessResearch and OBEs““The true nature of theconsciousness extends farbeyond the boundaries of thephysical brain4

The Consciential Sciences and ResearchConscientiology is the science that studies the consciousness (alsopopularly known as intelligent principle, soul, spirit or individual essence),taking into account all of its attributes, its capacity for parapsychicphenomena, and the fact that it has multiple lives and can manifest bothinside and outside the physical body.Conscientiology differs from conventional sciences in that its scientificfoundation is based on a new, more advanced philosophical paradigm. Whilstconventional sciences consider reality to be tetra dimensional (physical only),conscientiology employs the conscinetial paradigm which acknowledgesreality as multidimensional. The true nature of the consciousness extends far beyond theboundaries of the physical brain, according to consciential sciences. Thisfact eludes the mainstream sciences, which consider consciousness to begenerated by the physical brain, thus limiting themselves to materialisticresearch methodologies.Participative research is one of the main premises of conscientiology asmodern technology is still not sophisticated enough to detect the more subtledimensions where the consciousness manifest itself. Participative researchrequires that the researcher be both the scientist and the object of study.Conscientiology relies on the inherent capacity of human being to leavethe physical body with lucidity in order to conduct scientific investigations innon-physical dimensions. The out-of-body experience is then theconsciontioogist‘s main research tool as it provides opportunities to gatherdata from which conclusions about our multidimensional nature can be drawn.Projectiology is one of the more than 100 sub disciplines ofconscientiology and it is dedicated to the investigation of parapsychicphenomena, with emphasis on the out-of-body experience and the conscioususe of bionenergy (chi, prana, vital energy, subtle energy). IAC researchfocuses on how to master and benefit from these phenomena.5

OBE: A Tool for Self-ResearchAlthough a fascinating experience in an of itself, the purpose of the outof-body experience (or OBE) is to precipitate major personal evolutionby providing individuals with opportunities to perceive first-hand the invisible, yet real, non-physics dimension with which they interact all the time. Some of the key benefits of the Out-of-Body Experience (OBE) are: Irrefutable personal evidence of life after deathExcursions to places in both the physical and non-physical dimensionsEncounters with persons (including friends and family) who have passedawayRecall of the plan of action (purpose) for this life that was establishedprior to being bornIncrease of parapsychic abilities, extrasensory perceptions, energeticself-control and personal energetic defenceAwareness of the energetic interactions with physical and non-physicalindividualsAssistance to those in need through the transmission of therapeuticenergies while outside the bodyDirect communication with evolved non-physical individuals whosepresence the great majority of people are not able to perceiveRecall of past livesExpansion of self-knowledge and acceleration of the process ofmaturation of the consciousness6

CHAPTER 2Consciential Evolution: PersonalEffort & Prioritization““Evolution requires change.Nothing evolves withoutchange.7

Consciential Evolution:Personal Effort and PrioritizationEvolution requires change. Nothing evolves without change. In the caseof human beings, the majority of changes depend on their will. It is importantthat one remains motivated to confront the intimate truth of his personalprocesses, which should be improved throughout the physical existences. It ispossible to modify virtually everything in life.Desire, a positive attitude, and disposition are necessary in order to overcomeobstacles. Our "struggles" are in reality barriers resulting from sick patternsthat we have inside ourselves, in our intra-consciential reality. As aconsequence, these internal changes require personal efforts. The strength ofthe personality (ego?) comes about through centuries, in acts of determinationand ethics which polish off the character. We are constructing our future with each second. What we are livingthrough now is a result of our patterns of thought, sentiments, and attitudes ofour past — our thosenes. This obviously includes the past of this life and ofour previous lives. Life is the way we make it – a product of what weourselves generate and create. An indisputable reality: it does not matterwhere we go, we are always with ourselves. We can never succeed in runningfrom ourselves. As a result of this, our lives are made in accordance with ourintimate state. We can be in a beautiful and pleasant place, but if we are notinternally satisfied, no external comfort can compensate. Living a happy lifewith nothing but wisdom and fraternity is a sign of higher evolution. Evolutionis very democratic. The same rules apply to everybody. In general, people become overly involved in life, they start living likerobots, without taking charge of the direction which their existence is going. The great majority of the population is guided solely by life‘s intra-physicalnecessities, appointments and frivolous social engagements.8

Unfortunately, the great majority of the population on this planet doesnot have enough comprehension on multidimensional life, evolution andthe order of the universe. This lack of comprehension hinders them with livingwith wisdom and intelligently utilizing the positive opportunities that life offers. On this level, which is the most basic in human evolution, the individual livesin a more instinctive manner, guided by emotions. It is the condition we referto as existential robotization. His life has become like a zombie‘s, without theperformance of conscious projections. This personality is called theevolutionary para-comatose.The term evolutionary para-comatose signifies a person who is in acomatose state regarding its (potential for) evolution. In other words, thisperson has no lucidity about its series of existences, nor the autonomy of itsextra-physical life. They have no conscious projections at all. They haveexclusively unconscious projections. This category is where possibly 90% ofthe population lies. These consciousnesses work in order to survive, procreate, and seek pleasures; but beyond this, there is no self-evolutionaryawareness. In general, this group does not have experiences with relation totheir past lives, or they do not admit they do. Others, even though believing inreincarnation, do not live in a manner which takes advantage of life to developthemselves, their surroundings and relationships, in order to make a betterfuture for everybody. In this case, the objectives of the person revolve around egotistical andinstinctive interests. What happens with others is not as important. In otherwords, the individual has a preoccupation with his comfort, his money, hisbelongings, his family, his well-being, his beliefs, his power, etc. And these arethe reasons that have motivated the wars in this planet. Fundamentally, prioritizations of this person are immediate, based on conquests which willonly be useful in this life. They subconsciously do not believe that physical lifewill end, that everyone dies, and that it would be wiser to take advantage oflife to better oneself from the inside. Thus, wherever we go, we take ourdevelopment with us. It is possible for us to rid ourselves of many things, butnot of our knowledge or who we are.9

CHAPTER 3What is Astral Projection andHow can you Experience it?““Most people separate at leastsome inches from the physicalbody every night when they goto sleep10

What is Astral Projection andHow Can you Experience it?What Exactly is Astral Projection?Astral projection – also known as the Out-of-Body Experience or OBE forshort – is a phenomenon where the consciousness (while directly manifestingin the subtle body also known as the astral body or psychosoma) exteriorisesfrom the physical body remaining connected to the physical body by what iscommonly referred to as the silver cord.Symptoms and sensations often accompany an astral projection, particularlyat the point of separation or disconnection, where some people have reportedvarious phenomena including but not limited to vibrations, sounds of voicesnearby, sleep-paralysis and a ‗buzzing‘ sound in the head. All of these or acombination of them or even none of these phenomenon may occur.Everyone is unique.Types of Astral ProjectionThere are different types of astral projection, varying in quality depending onthe level of lucidity and energetic control a person experiences. For anexplanation of Out-of-Body Experience types, please see below:1. Spontaneous projections or Out-of-Body ExperiencesThese are unplanned projections, often outside of the control of the person inquestion. These types of experiences happen when a person has apredisposition for a certain degree of bioenergetic (chi, prana) ‗looseness‘. Inother words, that their ‗energetic system‘ (which is like the glue between theirastral body and their physical body) is more like water and less like glue. Inthese types of projections, a person may simply be having a nap, or fallasleep at night, and while their body is sleeping, wake up to find themselvesoutside of their body, in their astral body or psychosoma, at times, evenseeing their physical body sleeping.11

2. Forced projections or Out-of-Body ExperiencesThese sudden exits from the physical body can be caused by either a suddenshock or trauma to the body such as a vehicle crashing or some type oftraumatic occurrence. Various accounts from individuals have included themsuddenly finding themselves lucidly watching their still physical body fromoutside. In these instances, the astral body quite literally pops out of thephysical and can be quite a surprise to the individual.3. Unconscious projectionsHave you ever had a sinking feeling followed by being woken up with a jolt?Chances are you have just reconnected with your physical body after aseparation or disconnection. Most people separate at least some inches fromthe physical body every night when they go to sleep. Usually, the subtle orastral body, hovers just above the physical one, remaining attached orconnected to the body via the silver cord. This natural process allows us torecharge our astral body (our emotional vehicle – psychosoma) with thesubtle energy it requires.4. Semi-lucid projectionsA semi-lucid projection may leave you with mnemonic remnants of theexperience. During the experience itself you may intersperse betweenprojecting and dreaming and never really reach full lucidity and awareness. Ina semi-lucid projection you may also lapse into a blackout or experience briefmoments of lucidity during the experience followed by unrecalled, un-lucid orsemi-lucid periods.5. Fully lucid or conscious projectionsThis is where a person is fully conscious and is the most productive kind ofastral projection as the person is in control of their thoughts and energies andcan make the most of the projective experience. A fully lucid projection may ormay not include a conscious take off from the physical body however onceprojected the individual will be fully conscious with the heightened sensationsand abilities of the subtle body (astral body or psychosoma).12

How can you Experience it?Anyone can learn how to master the Out-of-Body experience, however, thosestarting to attempt astral projection will have varying levels of natural ability, and there are a range of factors that can aid or inhibit a projection fromhappening. There are many techniques available focusing on different strengths. Forinstance some techniques rely on creativity and visualisation whereas othersare more methodical. The best way to succeed is to persevere and find anOut-of-Body technique that works for you.A good starting point to learning how to induce an Out-of-Body experience isto read as much as you can on the topic including techniques, benefits, common sensations and optimizations. This will immerse your mind in theidea of projection and saturate your thoughts and energies. Next, draw up alist of techniques that you think might suit you. Apply a single technique dailyeither when you go to sleep or at a time during the day if you prefer. Youshould try each technique for at least 14 attempts (although more or less willwork for different people) before moving onto another technique. It is helpful to keep an organized diary of your experiences and take note of allsensations or experiences that might arise. This will help you work out whichtechniques are working best for you.13

CHAPTER 4Benefits of Astral Projection““When we find ourselves lucidoutside the body we realizethat death does not exist.14

Benefits of Astral ProjetionIn our courses and conferences, one of the most common questions we get ison the topic of benefits of the out-of-body experiences. This experience, alsoknown as astral projection, is very rich in terms of possibilities and benefits. For example, let us look at the most common cases:Access to other planes of reality – The out-of-body experience permits oneto reach other realities, or dimensions, beyond the physical plane. Forexample, we can go to the place where we used to live before entering intothis present lifetime, and we can also see the place where we will go after thephysical death.Encounters with other persons who have passed away – Obviously, if itpossible to visit these places, it is then also possible to meet and speak withpersons whom have already passed away, including those who we knew inour life.Direct interview with the extraphysical guide – These guides, also knownas mentors, guardian angels, protectors, or simply helpers, areconsciousnesses who live in the astral dimension, but accompany us with thegoal of helping us. In general, the great majority of people today are not ableto perceive the presence of these beings. If one leaves the body, one can seetheir helper and hold a discussion with him.Understanding of and loss of fear of death - When we find ourselves lucidoutside the body, we realize by ourselves, without any brain washing or mysticbelief that death does not exist. Actually, outside the physical body, we will beexactly the same, with the same evolutionary level, except that we will nothave the necessity to breathe, eat, etc. because these are functions exclusiveto the physical, animal body. With the verifications made through personalexperiences that death does not exist, one will completely lose their fear ofdeath, since it will be proven that no one dies.15

Assistance of other consciousnesses – With the knowledge and controlacquired through out-of-body experiences (i.e. astral projection, astral travel),we learn to utilize our own energies in favor of other beings. This occursthrough lucid and conscious transmission of therapeutic energies. Thisdonation of energies can be made outside the body when one nears anotherwith the intention of helping them.Recall of past lives – With the accumulation of astral projections, the personbegins to have spontaneous, healthy recollections of past lives. Thisinformation can help us know ourselves better, overcome certain traumas,self-cure certain illnesses, and expand our sense of fraternity anduniversalism.Increase of parapsychic abilities – The control and experience that comesfrom projections naturally expands the psychic capacities or personalextrasensory perceptions.Identification of the purpose of one’s personal life – Discovering the mainpurpose of this life. Through a conscious projection, we can recall or identifyour established mission for the current life.Acceleration of maturity and awakening – With the knowledge of lifegained through the study of astral dimensions, we increase our level ofconsciential maturity, also accelerating our spiritual evolution and avoiding theloss of one third of our life sleeping.Energetic equilibrium and energetic defenses – The individual‘s energyfield is at its strongest when it is expanded and at equilibrium. With this, theconsciousness is more liberated from intruders, obsessions, or energeticintrusions that are many times suffered due to the energetic invasions of otherextraphysical consciousnesses. This state of equilibrium with one‘s ownenergies produces many benefits in the physical and mental disposition andin the psychological equilibrium of persons. The equilibrium of the energeticfield is a characteristic of our overall well-being, control of negative stress, increase in self-confidence and emotional balance, amplification of intellectualcapacities, and expansion of self-knowledge. One can learn to manage andcontrol one‘s own energies by applying different techniques and experiences.16

CHAPTER 5History of the Out-of-BodyExperience““Astral travel is as natural asbeing human and as old ashumanity.17

History of Out-of-Body ExperiencesWe are always reflecting upon astral projections, its benefits, techniques, and consequences, but we find it important to emphasize thatthis phenomenon, also known as astral travel, out-of-body experience, orconscious projection, is as natural as being human, and as old as humanity –perhaps even more ancient than this. Leaving the body is as natural asbreathing or sleeping. It is part of life, and also of the less evolved life forms. Many people that leave their body, or have left their body, relate that theysee their domestic animals, like dogs, projected and active outside theirbodies. If an animal today is able to leave its body, we can conclude thatprimitive men living in caves experimented with the same phenomenon.Throughout history, there is diverse documentation of astral projections. These relations give us an idea of the universal character of this capacity ofleaving the body. We will give some examples of cases, to expand theknowledge regarding this topic. For example, we will find that the more remote evidences appear inAncient Egypt, between 5,000 and 3,000 years ago. The Egyptian priestsknew of the existence of the astral body. They called it the Kha and they leftinscriptions and drawings on the rock walls of many temples and buildings, representing it as something subtle and light abandoning the physical body.During this time, the initiations were created, which were in fact trials of theindividual and its capacity to leave the body and present him/herself partiallyor totally materialized in front of a group of persons.18

In Ancient Greece, we see references in the Temple of Eleusis, in thewritings of the philosophers Plato, Hermotimus of Clazomene, Herodotus, andin some reports of the historian Plutarch of Queroneia. Plutarch tells us of thestory of Arisdeu, which took place in the 79th year of the first century. Arisdeuwas a dishonest individual with a bad reputation in his community. He sufferedan accident where he fell and hit his head against a rock, resulting in a comawhich lasted a couple of days. During this coma, Arisdeu perceived himselfoutside his body. He found himself with his helper, or spiritual guide, andtalked to her.During this experience, Arisdeu also saw another dimension which wasinhabited by consciousnesses with little equilibrium and stayed to examinethem. Then, at a certain moment, he felt a force pulling him back inside hisbody. Arisdeu woke up in the physical plane at the moment in which he wasabout to be buried. One can imagine the reaction of the community. Nevertheless, since thisexperience, Arisdeu changed his ethics, values, and behavior, transforminghimself into a respected citizen valued in his community. Today we can clearlyunderstand that he had a near-death-experience, which is actually becomingmore and more common now.It is worthwhile to state that in the Bible there are various evidences ofcases of conscious projections such as in Ezequiel, III:14; Apocalypse ofJuan, 1:10 and 11; 4:2; as well as in Epistles of Pablo of Tarsus (II Corynthios,12:2).Continuing our history, we see that during the Middle Ages, due to thegreat repression of the Inquisition, the conscious projection waspracticed, studied, and known only within certain schools or secret societies.Likewise, after the end of the Inquisition, these esoteric and occultmovements continued to hide information from the population, inclusivelycreating the basis for current myths and lies about the dangers of astralprojections (out-of-body experiences), maintaining the old structure of powerand hierarchy.19

In the 18th and 19th centuries, we had three great pioneers of this studythat made the first efforts in popularizing astral projection (astral travel),even publishing books on the subject. They were the Swedish philosopherEmmanuel Swedenborg; the French writer and novelist Honore de Balzac, with his story ―Louis Lambert‖; and the Frenchman Allan Kardec, creator ofspiritism. Other names throughout history are: Apollonius of Tyana, Antonio ofPadua, Padre Pío and Sai Baba.In truth, the most serious thing this discussion reveals to us is that thephenomenon of the out-of-body experience (astral projection) is ancientand universal. We observe that different persons throughout history hadexperiences and continue to have them more and more. These experiencesoccur in persons independently of their culture, education, financial situation, religion, credo, sex, or age.The out-of-body experience is positive and beneficial. Thus, it is importantto stop the brain washings that have been done throughout the ages due toignorance on the topic. Today there is a science, Projectiology, for thepurpose of studying this phenomenon. Any person can develop its capacities, perceptions and self control, getting to the point of having a conscious astralprojection.20

CHAPTER 6How to Astral Project forBeginners in 3 Easy Steps““The amount of effort to reacha lucid Out-of-Bodyexperience can change fromperson to person.21

How to Astral Project for BeginnersAstral projection is something that can be learned. While the amount ofeffort to reach a lucid Out-of-Body experience can change from person toperson, a bit of theory and selecting the right approach can make a world ofdifference. This section is divided in three areas: the process, tips to help you get startedand an overall look at the benefits that the OBE entails.THE PROCESSOut of Body Experience for Beginners in 3 StepsTaking offIf you are trying to figure out how to astral project easily, the first thing youneed to understand is how to produce the take-off. In other words, you needto learn how to relax the physical body to the point your psychosoma (astralbody) is free to take off.Aside from the relaxation of the physical body, you will need to have theequivalent ―relaxation‖ of your energosoma (energy body). Knowing how tounblock your chakras and achieve a better distribution of energies throughoutthe energosoma can be a great help in this process. Ideally, you shouldachieve a state with your energies that will produce a slight expansion of yourenergosoma. Since the energosoma is the ―glue‖ between the physical bodyand the psychosoma (astral body), you will be in a better condition to take off.Unblocking chakras and expanding the energies are not absolutely necessaryconditions to produce a lucid OBE, however, working on it can greatlyincrease your chances for take-off.Blocked areas in your energosoma can keep your astral body ―glued‖ to thephysical body. For example, you could get to the point of relaxation where youfeel your legs and arms floating, and even get the head of the psychosoma tomove around a bit, but feel as if there was a weight on top of the chest thatkeeps you inside the body.22

Staying Lucid During Take OffOn the process of learning how to achieve astral projection, lucidity isparamount. Being lucid means to be aware, cognizant, making sense of theinformation we receive from the environment around us consistently with howwe do it in the waking state. We can say that lucidity means to be ―awake‖however we do not use that word in order to avoid confusion with the state ofour physical body. Our physical body can be awake or asleep. We, as consciousness, can belucid or not. So the trick to astral project is to put the physical body to sleepbut to stay lucid. The consciousness is not the physical body and thereforedoes not need to sleep.23

Recalling your Out-of-Body ExperienceThe third element needed while learning how to do astral projection is toremember the experience after it happens. This is usually not the part thatrequires the most amount of information and training. When you are outside the body, everything you experience is capturedby you “extraphysical brain” (or parabrain) in your astral body (orpsychosoma). Because of that, when you go back to the physical body atransfer of information needs to happen from this parabrain to the physicalbrain. This is the essence of the recall process. There are things you can do before the projection to help with the recall.Self-suggestion is one technique you can use before your OBE attempt. Thisrecall technique consists in repeating a phrase to yourself a few times.Repeating it five or ten times is typically effective. If you can say it out loudand do it after you have achieved some relaxation, even better. The sentenceshould be simple and direct, something like ―I will get out of my body withlucidity and remember everything when I come back‖. It is important to payattention to what you are saying and say it ―with energy‖ and with confidence.During the OBE you can try to repeat names of people and places thatyou learn, and also tell yourself that you will remember those names afteryou wake up. Coming back to the physical body by your own decision usuallyhelps with a more controlled reconnection and with the overall transfer ofinformation to the physical brain. An important factor on remembering yourastral projection experience is to wake up slowly and to keep your attentionon the recall process as you reconnect. If you wake up abruptly, after a loudalarm goes off, and quickly move to switch it off, you would reduce yourchances of recall. The ideal scenario for recall is based on a slow reconnection process. Those kinds of alarms that increase the volume slowly can help in this regard. You should ask yourself if you recall anything from the period your physicalbody was asleep before making any movements.24

CHAPTER 7Your Existential Program25““The Existential Program isalso known as “life mission”,“life purpose” or “life plan”.

Existential ProgramExistential Program is the plan of actions for this life that one doesbefore being born. This concept is also known as "life mission", "lifepurpose" or "life plan".Sometimes we have an impression of emptiness in our lives or feel arecurring sensation that we have something to do, but are not able to identifywhat it is or what we must do. These sensations can be a signal of aexistential program. Our existential program entails actions that:- Promote our intimate development,- Solve past karmic debts,- Balance certain life situations, and- Contributes to the evolution of other consciousnesses. Are our decisions in life coherent with our existential program? The completing of our existential program is essential for our evolution.Nevertheless, some people strive to complete their task, while others fail andwaste the opportunity that life presents to them.26

CHAPTER 8About Us““The International Academy ofConsciousness is a non-profitorganization dedicated toconsciousness studies.27

About UsThe International Academy of Consciousness (IAC) is a non-profitorganization dedicated to consciousness studies. The IAC is committed to the investigation of the consciousness, its capacity tomanifest outside of the physical body and a comprehensive associated rangeof parapsychic phenomena.Demystifying these phenomena and clarifying the misconceptions oftenrelated to them empower individuals to understand and develop their ownparapsychic abilities, allowing them to exercise greater control over theirlives. The Courses delivered by the IAC's offices around the world offerparticipants a combination of information and practical training that allowsthem to understand and experience life beyond the physical body. First-handexperience of the non-physical reality brings about a paradigm shift and agreater understanding of one's purpose in this life. The IA employs a cosmoethical and universalistic approach in thedissemination of its studies. Participants are given the tools with which theycan increase their awareness of their multidimensional nature. Central to thework is the principle embodies in the phrase:Be Lucid.Question everything and everyone.Experiment. ndeducational activities is to provide assistance to those interested indeepening their knowledge of these subjects

Astral projection – also known as the Out-of-Body Experience or OBE for short – is a phenomenon where the consciousness (while directly manifesting in the subtle body also known as the astral body or psychosoma) exteriorises from the physical body remaining connected to the physical body by what is .
