STIMONIALTEPegi DraperBIRNHAK TRANSITIONAL CAREat Lankenau Medical CenterPegi’s mom, Margaret DeCenzi, recently recovered from COVID-19 at ourBirnhak Transitional Care Center at Lankenau Medical Center. This beautiful facility provides care to patients after a hospital stay when they are notyet able to return home. It serves as an essential resource to our community, especially during these trying times, and was just included on the USNews and World Report list of “Best short-term rehabilitation” facilities.The care for my 88 year-old mom was fantastic.She was recuperating from COVID and neededskilled nursing. Mom was a nervous wreck about leaving LankenauMedical Center. I think since TCC was right on the hospital campus,you could hear the relief in her voice. The nurses, aides, physicaltherapists and Denise, the Abramson social worker, were allwonderful, Mom felt cared for, comfortable and respected.The environment, in tandem with the great care,was so important in her recovery.Pegi Draper10
The Response to COVIDThis has been a year like no other – for all of us, but especially forour frail seniors. The pandemic created a heightened meaning andan unprecedented urgency to our mission. As a result of the crisis,we were faced with staggering additional costs in order to securesufficient PPE to protect seniors and our staff. Staff overtime andnecessary modifications to our normal care delivery added tothe financial burden.Your response to our increased needs was overwhelming.The impact of your generosity helped to keep our seniors and staffsafe, while allowing us to ease feelings of fear and isolation forseniors throughout our community.11
