EDITORS NOTE: Lake Havasu City was really over the top. We sold out the wholeplace out and we think they liked us as much as we liked them. Unfortunately we didnot have time to try out one of the go fast boats. They sounded awesome and seeingthem slide onto the sand to be tied to a nail was impressive. The food at the beachsiderestaurant was very good and the dinner was excellent. Their infinity pool overlookingthe lagoon and paddle boarders was entertaining. Walking over the London Bridgewas fun. It sounded like everyone there was looking forward to returning next yearwith extended stays to enjoy some of the other amenities.Volume VI, Issue 2Page 2 of 13

Ride to Globe November 17, 2016Our lunch ride to Globe started out well. Dennie, Karen, Wally, Linda, Dick and Billmet up with Candy, Kris and I at the Park and Ride location at Ruthrauff. Aftergreeting everyone we jumped onto I-10 heading for the Twin Peaks exit. From therewe rode to Tangerine and headed east. We met up with Randy at Tangerine Rd. andOracle. He joined us and we were on our happy way. Our first butt break was at theconvenience store in Winkelman. Shortly after, Steve and Michele arrived. After everyone had stretched we put our riding gear on and headed north anticipatingarrival into Globe within 30 to 40 minutes. Well, that didn’t happen. We got stoppedat the first of two construction sites waiting for a lead vehicle. While we were waitingwe all noticed our flag person was having trouble staying awake and that theconstruction crew was working no more than 150 feet from us. I think we all thoughtthere was another crew further down the road to cause us to wait for a lead vehicle. We learned approx. 6 miles down the road there wasn’t. The construction work wesaw as we waited for the lead car was it!Okay, we are traveling again and I am guessing within another ten miles we ran intothe second construction site and again we were stopped to wait for another leadvehicle. This time the lead vehicle was justified. They were removing what weresome large rocks on the side of the hill that have had the undersoil washed frombeneath them from the rains this summer.Anyway, we arrive in Globe. I have my GPS on and was following the directions tothe NURDBURGER and yep, I made the wrong turn. Turned 1 block too soon. Afterwe got some directions from some of the local school kids, we arrived at ourdestination. Lunch was good and the company was even better! Our ride home was uneventful. We had a wonderful day!ChuckVolume VI, Issue 2Page 4 of 13

Twelve things that a motorcycle can teach 1. The only good view of a thunderstorm is in your rear veiw window.2. Four wheels might move the body but two wheels move the soul.3. I’d rather be riding my motorcycle and thinking about God thanSitting in chuch thinking about my motorcycle.4. Life may begin at 30 but it don’t get interesting till about 95.mph.5. Midnight bugs taste just as bad as noontime bugs.6. Some times it takes a whole tank of gas before you can think straight.7. A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.8. Young riders pick a destination and go old riders pick a direction & go.9. When you are riding lead, don’t spit.10. Catching a wasp in your shirt at 75 can double your vocabulary.11. I’ve never seen a motorcycle parked outside a psychiatrist’s office.12. Only bikers know why dogs stick their heads out of car windows. Thanks to Candy ShirleyVolume VI, Issue 2Page 5 of 13

KAREN’S COLLECTION OF SANTA’SI thought I would share my story on collecting Santa Claus. It started somewhere back in the late 90’s or early2000’s. One day I was in Kohl’s department store and decided to purchase a Santa to add to the other decorationsin the house. It looked so nice that I decided to add another. But as we all know there were only a few left at thestore and they were the same as I just purchased, so I decided to wait until next year to see if there would be anydifferent ones.Well next year came and Kohl’s had some different style Santa’s, so I bought another. At the time, our friendsVicki and Ken were also collecting Santa’s and this turned into little competition on who was going to outdo theother. The intention was to collect a single Santa every Christmas season but you know sometimes you have tobuy more than one, if you want to stay ahead of the competition, just saying. The collecting has continued here in Arizona. As you see by the pictures, I now have 32 different Santa’s. Theyare all different. Now the challenge has become to where and how to display them every year.Karen LongVolume VI, Issue 2Page 9 of 13

Ride to Chapter “R” Chili FestWell GECKOS, if you didn’t go with us to CHAPTER R CHILI FEST Saturday November 19th, you missed agreat ride and a lot of good tasting chili along with hot dogs and soda. The weather was a little cool, 46 degreeswhen I left.Chuck, Steve, Wally, and myself decided to have breakfast Saturday morning before hitting the road. Wedecided to stop at the IHOP located on Cortaro road. IHOP happen to be very busy that morning but we were inand out within an hour.As a planned stop before hitting the Phoenix traffic, we stopped at the LOVE’S truck stop and filled up the bikeswith gas. I’m sure there are gas stations along the way to RIDE NOW but it’s much easier to get off/on to thefreeway here. Besides we had a chance to stretch our legs.Arriving at RIDENOW, the parking lot was full of bikes and automobiles. Chapter R sets up out front of themain doors under the building’s overhang. The chili was supplied by the members and I have never seen so muchdifferent chili. I tried a couple of MILD ones as I’m not a fan of HOT chili and it tasted really good. As for anydoor prizes, I don’t believe any of us won anything. I know I didn’t.After visiting with friends, it was time to head back to Green Valley and Tucson. Steve suggested that all of usstop at Picacho Peak at the DQ for some refreshments (which I didn’t object to) and possibly fill up with gas ifneeded. Had DQ, then said our goodbyes before hitting the road. It’s always a good day when you can ride withyour friends. So, until next time, keep the rubber side down and ride safe.Dennie LongSVolume VI, Issue 2Page 11 of 13
