Weighing a hefty 101 2 lbs., this vise features a castiron base with four mounting holes for rock-solid stability. The vise has a large lock handle that can berepositioned for maximum versatility. 4.Loosen lock handle two turns and rotatedovetail mount to upright position, then tightenlock handle so it looks similar to Figure 1 onthe previous page.Mounting ViseMount the vise to a sturdy workbench heavyenough to not tip over from downward pressureapplied during operation. Allow enough room soyour workpiece or firearm can be fully adjusted,and to place vise in a well-lit area.Mounting Firearm in MagazineHolderOptional magazine holders, which are soldseparately, enable a wide variety of popularguns to be mounted to the BE1162. Refer toAccessories on Page 7 for a full list of magazineholders, or go to www.bullets.com.A magazine holder (see Figure 7) mounts intothe magazine well, and the adjustable stop ispositioned according to the magazine length.The base has mounting holes that allow it tobe fastened to a workbench or other mountingsurface to prevent it from moving during operationand causing accidental injury or damage.MagazineHolderThe strongest mounting option is a "ThroughMount", where holes are drilled all the way throughthe workbench, using hex bolts, washers, and hexnuts to secure the vise in place. Another option isa "Direct Mount" where the vise is secured directlyto the workbench with lag screws and washers.The vise may also be secured with a C-clamp.Adjusting Tilt, Height & Rotation1.Loosen lock handle approximately one turnand rotate dovetail mount until it is positionedover a detent (see Figure 6).DovetailMountDetentFigure 6. Mounting FaceplateThe BE1162 vise can accommodate a variety ofworkpieces using the optional BE1210 or BE1211faceplates (see Figure 14).BE12105.Loosen lock handle and remove dovetailmount if installed.6.Slide faceplate mount shaft into shaft clamphub (see Figure 16), then tighten lock handle.BE1211MountShaftFigure 14. Optional faceplates for BE1162.We recommend installing two #6–#8 wood screwsthrough countersunk holes in the optional BE1211faceplate, or installing three #8–#14 wood screwsthrough countersunk grooves in the optionalBE1210 faceplate. Do NOT use drywall screws, astheir heads can shear. Make sure screws are longenough to provide a safe, stable work surface, butwill not interfere with carving activities.ClampHubFigure 16.
