TPMOV TechnologyThermally protected MOV (TPMOV) technologyMersen’s patented TPMOV technology eliminates common failuremodes that occur in the field with standard metal oxide varistors. Internally theTPMOV is comprised of a voltage clamping device and a disconnecting apparatusthat monitors the status of the metal oxide disk making the TPMOV a fail-safedevice. In the event of an overvoltage breakdown the metal oxide disk is securelydisconnected from the system power by an arc shield. Upon failure the TPMOV isalso equipped with a visual pin indicator as well as a normally open micro-switchproviding remote indication, if applicable. The TPMOV is rated for 50kA - 8/20μs peak surge current and is available formaximum continuous operating voltages (MCOV) from 150V to 550VAC. Noadditional fusing or overcurrent protective device is required when using theTPMOV as compared to most MOV’s on the market today. The TPMOV footings are similar to that of equivalent voltage ratings of traditional25 to 40mm MOV’s. The TPMOV can be utilized on existing systems that utilizetraditional MOV’s without costly board redesigns. VSP MOV Protector FuseSurge Suppression FusesMersen surge suppression fuses are specially designed to address the protectionof SPD systems. Our surge suppression fuses have been specially designed towithstand 8x20 µSec surge pulses without opening, allowing the SPD system toreact to the surge. All surge suppression fuses have a 8x20 µSec surge rating, not acontinuous current rating. Under AC short circuit conditions these surge suppressionfuses are very current limiting.Features/Benefits:Applications: VSP fuses rated 600VAC, 200kA I.R.
