Meet the TeacherMy name is Shannon Cuddy! I have a degree inChildhood Education and a Master’s Degree inLiteracy Education from Long IslandUniversity. This is my third year teachingFirst Grade at Saint John Paul II RegionalSchool. I am also a Curriculum Lead for theFirst Grade Teachers of the Diocese ofRockville Centre. I am looking forward toanother great year!

What to ExpectIn First Grade we will focus onimproving your child’s Reading,Writing, Math, Science andcritical thinking skills throughour STREAM curriculum whilealso integrating the principlesof the Catholic Faith into everyaspect of education.

Behavior ManagementThis year we will use class DOJO for behavior management!This will be an interactive online way for students to receive pointsfor good behavior and detract points for off task behavior.At the end of the week students with 20 points will receiverewards such as extra recess time, dance parties, extra iPadtime, class prizes etc.

Class BirthdaysUnfortunately, this year there will beNO birthday treats and/or party favorsbrought into school to celebrate yourchild’s birthday.However, we will celebrate your child’sbirthday in class. In lieu of birthday treatsand/or party favors students will weartheir very own birthday crown provided bythe teacher, the class will sing HappyBirthday and a game or dance party oftheir choice will be held in their honor!
