If you are a member, you will receive a gift orchidat the end of our dinner.January brings with it, the first two big orchid events of the New Year.The Tamiami International Orchid Festival (www.orchidfestival.com) starts Friday January 13th through Sunday the 15that the Dade County Expo Center. We are aiming to participate in the 2017 festival with an orchid display. We will needfrom you, blooming orchids, display props, and sets of volunteer arms and legs to help us set up our display. Please callme at 305-253-7080 for more information and to volunteer. We need to provide the organizers with a list of names forday passes. It is a little bit of work, but it is also fun and a good learning experience. Plus, you get to be in the showbefore they open their doors to the public.The Fort Lauderdale Orchid Society presents their Show ‘Galaxy of Orchids.’ (www.FLOS.org). The show will startJanuary 20th through the 22nd at the War Memorial Auditorium, in Ft. Lauderdale. If you prefer a more traditionalorchid show, with displays of hundreds upon hundreds of open orchids filling up an auditorium, this, I think, is yourevent.February’s meeting is our annual auction. We need volunteers to request orchid plants, or related orchid items frombusinesses, collectors, anybody willing to donate. Please contact me at the same phone number, to start makingpreparations for our annual auction.Our meetings are always the third Wednesday of the month.
