Greg Miller during the end-ofsummer edition of the Lake CountyGun & Sportsman's Show held at theAntioch VFW Post 4551, 75 NorthAve. on Sunday, Aug 27. Miller andBarts were onhand at the showraising donations for the WWIISubmarine Veterans Memorial Fund.The city of Chicago has promised todonate land along the ChicagoRiver for the memorial but anestimated 250,000 in contributionsare needed to actually construct thememorial. A part of the memorial'spurpose is to honor submarine sailorspast, present, and future.Submarines played a vital role inwinning WWII. Twenty-eight of thesevessels were built in Manatowoc,Wisconsin from 1942-45. A total of 52subs were lost, taking the lives of 374offi
