Design & ConstructionDeZURIK rotary diaphragm actuators are available for useon rotary control valves including: V-Port Ball Valves BHP High Performance Butterfly Valves RCV Rotary Control ValvesThe common ISO-5211/1 bolt pattern allows the actuatorsto be easily interchanged on these rotary control valves.The actuators feature all steel, cast iron and stainlesssteel construction for corrosion resistance in causticenvironments. The housing and diaphragm casing (bothinterior and exterior) are epoxy coated, and the cover boltsare stainless steel as standard on sizes 40A, 55 and 85,and as an option on sizes 145A and 250A.The actuators are designed for on-off or modulatingservice in either a fail-open or fail-closed mode. Actioncan easily be changed in the field with no additional partsrequired. Five models are available in 40, 55, 85, 145 and250 square inch sizes (255, 350, 550, 950, 1600 cm2)with a choice of 20, 35 or 60 psi (150, 250 and 400 kPa)springs.Pre-Caged SpringThe spring cartridge is caged at the factory for increasedsafety.Weatherproof ConstructionThe actuator cover, adaptor and shaft bearings are seatedand gasketed to provide a weatherproof enclosure.Smooth Throttling ControlThe output shaft is supported at the top and bottomwith bronze bearings that absorb side thrust and insuresmooth, efficient throttling control.OSHA Standard Actuator LockoutRotary diaphragm actuators can be specified with alockout device that meets OSHA requirements. A numberof options are available that allow the actuator to be lockedin the following positions: Lockout (open or closed) at pressure end of stroke Lockout (open or closed) at failure end of stroke Lockout (open or closed) at either pressure or failureend of strokeAdjustable StopsThe externally positioned stops are easily adjustable forease of maintenance and less downtime.External Position IndicatorThe position indicator is externally mounted and provides ahighly visible indication of valve position.3

Accessories for Diaphragm ActuatorsManual OverridesManual overrides are available for valve operation if signalor supply pressure fails. The override on DR-40A, 55and 85 size actuators uses a handwheel to compress thediaphragm spring. On DR-145A and 250A sizes, a manualhydraulic pump and cylinder is used to compress thediaphragm spring. Manual override is included with DRLlockout actuators using the DP, RP, DE or RE spring actionoptions. To order a manual override, enter a comma andthe code MO after the actuator order code.Ordering OStainless Steel External Bolting on ActuatorOn DR-40A/55/85 actuator sizes, the diaphragm coverbolts are stainless steel as standard. When the SB codeis specified on the actuator, all remaining external boltingwill be stainless steel (top cover, pointer, adapter andaccessory bolting). On DR-145A/250A actuators, the SBcode must be specified for diaphragm cover bolts, plus allother external bolting, to be of stainless steel.Ordering BStainless Steel Bolting, Tubing, and FittingsTo order 316 stainless steel fittings, tubing, bolting and304 stainless steel accessory bracket, enter code SS afterthe actuator order code.Ordering SPositionersDeZURIK rotary diaphragm actuators are available withpneumatic, electro-pneumatic or digital smart positioners.Air Filter RegulatorThe DeZURIK air filter regulator is designed to provideclean, accurate air pressure to actuators and positioners.Refer to Air Filter Regulator bulletin for technicalspecifications and ordering information.Solenoid ValvesSolenoid valves may be ordered mounted and piped aspart of a complete valve/actuator assembly or they canbe ordered as a separate item. Refer to the SolenoidValve bulletin for technical specifications and orderinginformation.Stainless Steel Fittings and TubingPosition Indicating Switches and PositionTransmittersPiped accessories are provided with rubber hose and brassfittings as standard. To order 316 stainless steel fittingsand tubing, add the order code SF to the valve andactuator identification.
