She wasinstrumental in reinstatingthe Student Life Committee,on which she serves as cochair. In that capacity, shespearheaded the creation of both the FoodInsecurity and the Mental Health task forces.Lewin serves on the board’s ExecutiveCommittee and the committees for academicaffairs, communications and external affairs,community colleges, and academic medicalcenters and hospitals.A former commissioner of the NiagaraFrontier Transportation Authority, Lewin wasa founding member of the Roswell ParkAlliance and a board member of both theBuffalo Urban League and Hispanics Unitedof Buffalo. Jacobs wasappointed to the UBCouncil in 1997; in 1998,Gov. George Patakinamed him chairman.Jacobs is chairman ofDelaware North, a globalhospitality company withalmost 55,000 employeesserving half a billion customers in the U.S.,Canada, Asia, Australia, New Zealand andthe U.K. The company’s operations includefood and retail at airports and sportsvenues, sports facility ownership andmanagement, operations of parks andmajor tourist attractions, hotel ownershipand management, gaming operations andthe Patina Restaurant Group.Born in Guantanamo, Cuba, Lewinimmigrated to the United States with herfamily in 1967. She holds a bachelor’s degreein sociology from Marymount ManhattanCollege and master’s degrees in Americanand Puerto Rican studies, and in educationaladministration, from UB.Jacobs owns the Boston Bruins and servesas chairman of the National HockeyLeague’s Board of Governors. Previously, he spent 19 years asprofessor of computer science at theUniversity of Maryland, including sevenyears as department chair.Tripathi graduated at the top of his classfrom Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Heholds a master’s degree and a doctoratein computer science from the University ofToronto, as well as master’s degrees instatistics from both the University ofAlberta and BHU. A fellow of the IEEE andthe American Association for theAdvancement of Science, he wasawarded honorary doctorates from theIndian Institute of Information Technology,Allahabad, and Brock University inCanada.An active leader in the national highereducation community, Tripathi is chair ofthe Mid-American Conference Council ofPresidents and serves on the boards of theNCAA Division I, NCAA Board of Governors,College Football Playoff Board ofManagers and Internet2. Scott Weber, PhD,serves as the university’schief academic officer,responsible for leadingthe development andimplementation of theuniversity’s academic vision. Weber providesleadership across the academic enterpriseincluding research, scholarship and creativeactivities; undergraduate, graduate,professional and international education;faculty development; diversity and inclusioninitiatives; and university libraries.A member of UB’s faculty since 1983, Weberis an innovative scholar and teacher andformer chair of UB’s Department of Civil,Structural and Environmental Engineering,where he helped establish UB’stransportation engineering program andoversaw the department’s significant rise innational rankings among U.S civilengineering programs. Cain, MD, cameto the University at Buffaloin 2006 from WashingtonUniversity School ofMedicine in St. Louis, wherehe was director of theCardiovascular Division andTobias and Hortense LewinProfessor of Medicine.Cain is a graduate of Gettysburg Collegeand received his medical degree fromGeorge Washington University School ofMedicine and Health Sciences. He completedtraining in internal medicine and cardiologyat Barnes-Jewish Hospital/WashingtonUniversity School of Medicine. He was aclinical/research fellow in clinical cardiacelectrophysiology at the University ofPennsylvania School of Medicine.An internationally recognized physicianscientist, Cain specializes in cardiacelectrophysiology, the examination of theheart’s electrical system. He is a translationalresearcher, clinician and educator. Hisresearch, funded by the National Institutes ofHealth, has been directed at theelectrophysiological determinants ofventricular tachycardia and fibrillation in thesetting of healed myocardial infarction.Cain is a fellow of the American College ofCardiology, the American Heart Association andthe Heart Rhythm Society. He is a past presidentof the Association of Professors of Cardiologyand the Heart Rhythm Society, and past chair ofthe board of directors of The SarnoffEndowment for Cardiovascular Science.He has received the Hans-Peter KrayenbuehlMemorial Award for Research in CardiacFunction from the International Academy ofCardiology, the American Heart Association’sArthur E. Strauss Award, the 2012 Resident/Fellow Achievement Award from WashingtonUniversity School of Medicine and the 2013Leadership Buffalo Value Award for Inclusion.James M. O’Donnell,PhD, joined theuniversity in 2013 as the11th dean of the Schoolof Pharmacy andPharmaceuticalSciences. He is aprofessor ofpharmaceutical scienceswith a joint appointment as professor ofpharmacology and toxicology. He receivedhis Bachelor of Science in psychology fromCarnegie Mellon University and adoctorate in pharmacological andphysiological sciences from the Universityof Chicago; he completed postdoctoraltraining in neuropsychopharmacology atthe University of Pennsylvania.His research has focused on therelationship between the neurochemicaland behavioral effects of drugs used totreat neuropsychiatric illnesses. He hasserved on NIH review panels in theneuroscience and drug discovery areasand editorial boards for scientific journals.He is a fellow of the American Associationfor the Advancement of Science and theAmerican College ofNeuropsychopharmacology and haschaired the Gordon Research Conferenceon Cyclic Nucleotide Phosphodiesterases.O’Donnell has taught professional andgraduate students in pharmacology andneuroscience and provided researchmentorship to undergraduate, graduateand professional students, residents,postdoctoral fellows, and junior facultymembers. He served as director of anNIH-supported T32 grant, providingpredoctoral research training at theinterface of behavioral and biomedicalsciences.

Sinnett, PharmD, FASHP,is Director of Clinical andEducational Services and formerPGY1 Pharmacy Residencydirector for the Department ofPharmacy at MontefioreMedical Center, Bronx, NewYork.Dr. Sinnett received both his BS and PharmDdegrees from the University at Buffalo School ofPharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, and thencompleted a residency at the Mary ImogeneBassett Hospital in Cooperstown, New York.He holds adjunct faculty appointments at UB andthe Long Island University Schools of Pharmacy.Sinnett is a member of the Eastern StatesConference for Pharmacy Residents advisoryboard and past president of the New York StateCouncil of Health-System Pharmacists.professional affiliations include the AmericanSociety of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP),where he was involved with the Council forEducation and Workforce Development and theCommission on Credentialing and the Council onTherapeutics. BaxterMemorial Professional Practice Award.The Pharmaceutics Major Program is a rigorous four-yearcurriculum leading to a Bachelor of Science Degree inPharmaceutical Sciences. Areas of interest in Pharmaceuticsinclude: the Physical Chemistry of drug delivery systems;Biopharmaceutics, which encompasses the study of therelationship between drug tissue concentrations and drugeffects on the body; Clinical Pharmacokinetics, or theapplication of pharmacokinetics to the safe and effectivetherapeutic management of individual patients; andPharmaceutical Biotechnology, which is the application ofgenetic engineering and recombinant DNA techniquesimportant for the development of pharmaceutical drugs.Master of Science or Doctorate of Philosophy inPharmaceutical SciencesThe MS and PhD programs offered by the Department ofPharmaceutical Sciences provide instruction and researchtraining in drug discovery and experimental therapeutics, withinterdisciplinary coursework and research in thePharmaceutical Sciences at the molecular, biochemical,biological and clinical levels. These programs involve clinical aswell as laboratory research including pharmacokinetics,pharmacodynamics, drug delivery, drug transport andmetabolism, drug analysis and pharmacogenomics. Graduatesof these programs find extensive career opportunities wherethey will be involved in the discovery and development of newdrugs in the Pharmaceutical Industry and in academia, and inthe evaluation of drug therapies in various government andprivate agencies.Doctor of Pharmacy ProgramThe Doctor of Pharmacy program has a strong academic base,which is aimed at developing an in-depth understanding of thefactors involved in making rational drug therapy decisions. TheAdvanced Pharmacy Practice Experiential program builds onthis academic base, providing a wide range of exposure tovarious clinical pharmacy practice environments and medicalsubspecialty areas. PharmD Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience ProgramThe Pharm.D. Professional Experiential Program consists of required rotations in ambulatory, acute care, or long-term care settings.
