TheAtlanta school had withdrawn fromthe Southeastern Conference inJanuary of 1964.The ACC expanded to ninemembers on July 1, 1991, withthe addition of Florida StateUniversity.The conference expanded to11 members on July 1, 2004, withthe addition of the University ofMiami and Virginia PolytechnicInstitute and State University.
