Can WSDip applicants choose the company they want to work in?Applicants can choose from a list of participating companies during the WSDip intake exercise.However, they must attend interviews conducted by the company and be employed by thecompany, before starting WSDip Programme.4.What do employers look for at the selection interview for WSDip applicants?Like most recruitment processes, it is important for WSDip applicants to show good work attitudeand passion for the job. Being interested in the company and displaying willingness to add valuewill help the applicants as well.As this is a Diploma-level programme, employers also expect applicants to be strong in knowledge andskills learnt from previous Nitec / Higher Nitec courses.5. Can Nitec / Higher Nitec students of non-feeder courses qualify for WSDip courses that theyreally like?It is possible for Nitec / Higher Nitec students of non-feeder courses to be accepted in WSDipcourses that they really like. However, approval is on a case-by-case basis and the employer hasto say yes as well.If the applicant is accepted, he / she will not get the sign-on incentive.6. In the scenario where the intake period seems quite far off from the Operationally ReadyDate (ORD), what can prospective WSDip students do in the meantime?If waiting time for the next intake period is long, those who are interested can try to get jobs inareas related to the course, in order to better understand job expectations.7. Is there a bond period after the WSDip? If yes, how long is it?Most companies do not impose a bond period after the WSDip. For those which do, bond periodstypically range from 1.5 to 2 years. However, this information must be shared with applicantsbefore the start of the course.8. How will WSDip trainees be assessed in the course?The trainees will be graded by the company and ITE. At ITE, we may require the trainees to gothrough an in-course assessment and a written test after each module.9. Can WSDip graduates apply to progress to local universities?1. Can WSDip applicants defer from NationalService (NS)?Applicants who have not enrolled in NS canapply for NS deferment to study in WSDip if theymeet the age requirement, same as other ITEFull-time Diploma courses.4 ITE Work-Study Diploma2. Some private Diplomas can be attainedafter one year. Why does the WSDip coursetake such a long time?The WSDip Programme encompasses 2.5 yearsof in-depth training for trainees. This additionalworking experience enables trainees tobecome competent in carrying out their jobroles and gives employers confidence thattrainees have the skills to work.WSDip graduates can apply to related full-time or part-time degree programmes in the NationalUniversity of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Institute of Technology orSingapore University of Social Sciences, subject to the admission requirements of the university.10.
