1. Remove the back cover.With the device facing down, remove the back cover from the bottomleft corner. Use your fingernail to carefully lift the cover away fromthe device body.Optional: Insert the microSD card or replace the SIM card.To insert SIM card or microSD card, push the SIM card or microSDcard into the card slot with the gold-colored contacts facing down.SDcardcardSIMSIMcardSD10card

To remove the SIM card or microSD card, press down on the smallplastic tab (ʒ), then slide out the card (ʓ). Do not use force or anysharp objects.2. Insert the batteryInsert the battery by aligning the gold contacts of the battery withthe gold contact points of the device. It only fits one way. Press downto snap in place.3. Replace the back coverCarefully align the back cover with tabs and press into place. It onlyfits one direction.11

4. Charge your phoneCharge your phone fully before turning it on and starting the set upprocess. Insert the small end of the charging cable into the chargerport on the phone. Insert the other end of the cable into your wallcharger and plug it into a wall outlet.WARNING: Only use the charger and cable supplied with the phone.Using incompatible chargers or tampering with the charging portcould damage your phone and void the warranty.To optimize your battery life, you may do the following: Turn on power saving mode: Go to SettingsBattery Power Saving Mode On. PersonalizationLower screen brightness: Go to Settings Display Brightness. Lower the brightness by pressing the leftof the Navigation Key. 2.2Answering or rejecting a callDuring an incoming call: Open the flip to answer, if Settings Personalization Answer Mode Flip open to answer is On. Otherwise,or Call Keyto answer. Press the Left Soft Key Press the Right Soft Keydecline. Press the Center Soft Keypreset message. To mute the ringtone volume of an incoming call, press theVolume Up/Down Key.or the End/Power Keytoto reject the call by sending a18

3Contacts.Contacts enables quick and easy access to the contact you wantto reach.From the Home screen, press the Center Soft KeyContactsto enter Contact list.3.1and selectAdd a ContactOn the contacts list screen, use the Navigation Key and press theto create a New Contact and input the contactLeft Soft Keyinformation.When finished, press the Center Soft Key20to save.

3.2View a ContactOn the contacts list screen, use the Navigation Key to select aContact, then press the Center Soft Keyto access the detailscreen.Press the Left Soft Keyyou selected.Press the Center Soft KeyPress the Right Soft Keyto send an SMS/MMS to the contactto make a call.to access Options: Add as Favorite(1): Add the contact as a Favorite number. Youcan view it in Contacts Favorite contacts list. After added, themenu shows Unfavorite. Edit/Share/Delete: Edit/Share/Delete the contact. 3.3Edit a ContactOn the contacts list screen, using the Navigation Key to selectto access Options,a Contact, then press the Right Soft Keyselect Edit contact and press the Center Soft Keyto edit.When finished, press the Center Soft Key3.4to save.Share a ContactYou can share a single contact with others by sending the contact’svCard to them via Email, Messages, or Bluetooth.On the contacts list screen, use the Navigation Key to select aContact, then press the Right Soft Keyto access Options, andthen select Share.22

3.5Delete ContactsOn the contacts list screen, press the Right Soft Keyto accessOptions, select Delete contacts, use the Navigation Key to viewavailable contacts and the Center Soft Keyto make yourselection, and then press the Right Soft Key3.6to delete.Import/Export ContactsOn the contacts list screen, press the Right Soft Keyto accessOptions, select Settings Import contacts/Export contacts toimport/export contacts from/to memory card, Gmail, Outlook, orBluetooth.23

3.7Speed Dial ContactsOn the contacts list screen, press the Right Soft Keyto accessOptions, select Settings Set speed dial contacts, use theNavigation Key to select 2-9, press the Center Soft Keyto adda contact then press the Center Soft Keyto confirm.On the Home screen, long press the 2-9 screen keys to dial thedefined contacts.3.8Available OptionsFrom the Contacts list, select a contact, press the Right Soft Keyto show more options.CallMake a call to the selected contact.Send messageSend an SMS/MMS to a contact you selected from Contacts.Move/Copy contactsMove or Copy contacts from/to Phone memory to/from SIM card.Settings Memory: To select which contacts to display: Phone and SIM,Phone or SIM. Sort contacts: To select contacts sorted by first/last name. Set speed dial contacts: To select contacts to define the 2-9keys as a speed dialer. Set ICE contacts: Add five contacts for making “In Case ofEmergency” calls.24

Add Account: Contacts, data, or other information can besynchronized from multiple accounts, depending on theapplications installed on your phone.(1)Only Phone memory contacts can be added to Group.25

4Messages.Use the messaging feature to send and receive text (SMS) andmultimedia (MMS) messages.4.1Sending a Text MessagePress the Messages Key, or from the Home screen,press the Center Soft KeyMessages.and select Messages Press the Left Soft Keyto write a new message. Enter the phone number of the recipient in the To bar or press theLeft Soft Keyto add recipients. Use the Navigation Key to go to the SMS bar to enter the text ofthe message.26to enter

Press the Left Soft Key Press and hold the Center Soft Keyto send text messages.to speak your text.Inputting TextThere are different ways to enter text to create contacts, writeemails or send messages.You may choose from the different methods by pressing thekey and alternate between: Abc (sentence case), abc (lower case), or ABC (caps lock case):with this mode you must press each key multiple times to selecteach letter. For example, an ‘S’ is created by pressing the ‘7’ keyfour times. An ‘e’ is created by pressing ‘3’ twice, and so on. Predictive: predictive text mode is a feature that allows you totype faster, as the phone tries to predict what you are writing. Totype “Hello”:press the “4” key once, press the “3” key once, press the “5” keyonce, press the “5” key once, press the “6” key once, you havespelled the word “hello”.As you type, word suggestions will appear at the bottom of thescreen. If you see the word you are trying to type, select it withthe Navigation Key and press the Center Soft Key. 123: this mode generates only numbers. You may type ‘1’ bypressing the ‘1’ key just once, ‘2’ by pressing ‘2’ and so on. Switchback to ABC, Abc, abc or Kt9 mode to continue writing words. Symbols: This function provides punctuation and specialcharacters. Symbols may be accessed by pressing thekey as well. Find the right symbol by pressing right or left of theNavigation Key. When the cursor highlights a symbol you want toadd, press the Center Soft Keyto select it.27

If you want to delete the already typed letters or symbols, pressto delete them one by one or longthe Back/Delete Keypress to delete all at once.4.2Sending a Multimedia MessageMMS enables you to send video clips, images, photos, contacts andsounds to other compatible phones and email addresses by pressingfrom an open text messages screen and thenthe Right Soft Keyselecting Add attachment.An SMS will be converted to MMS automatically when media files(image, video, audio, etc.) are attached or email addresses are added.An SMS of more than 160 characters will be charged asseveral SMS. Specific letters (accent) will also increase thesize of the SMS. This may cause multiple SMS to be sent toyour recipient.28

55.1E-Mail.Setup E-MailYou can access this function by pressing the Center Soft Keyfrom the Home screen and select E-Mail.An email wizard will guide you through the steps to set up an emailto continue.account, press the Right Soft Key Enter the name and email for the account you want to setup. If you do not want to send the mail right away, you can press theand select Save as draft to save a copy.Right Soft Key Finally, press the Left Soft Keyto send.Note: If you are seeing a “password incorrect” error when settingup your Gmail Account in Email app, please review the followingoptions:Option 1: Generate an App passwordAn App password is a 16-digit passcode that gives an app or devicepermission to access your Google Account. If you use 2-StepVerification and are seeing a “password incorrect” error when tryingto access your Google Account, an App password may solve theproblem.Steps to generate an App password: Visit your App passwords page s/two-step-verification. You may be asked tosign in to your Google Account. At the bottom, click Select app and choose the app you’re using. Click Select device and choose the device you’re using. Select Generate. Follow the instructions to enter the App password (the16-character code in the yellow bar) on your device. Select Done. Once you are finished, you won’t see that App password codeagain. However, you will see a list of apps and devices you’vecreated App passwords for.If generate an app password does not fix “Password incorrect” issue,please proceed to Option 2 or Option 3.30

Option 2: Change your settings to allow less secure apps Go to the “Less secure apps” eapps section in My Account. Next to “Access for less secure apps,” select Turn on. You can now setup your email using your username andpassword. If you continue to see a “password incorrect” error,please proceed to Option 3.Option 3: Access Gmail through browserIf you don’t want to change your security settings, please followthese steps to access your Gmail: From the home page, press the Center Soft Key.Internetand select Enter https://www.google.com/gmail/ in the browser URL tab. Enter your username and password to log in.31

6Camera.Your mobile phone features a Camera and a Video app to takephotos and videos.Access the CameraTo access this function, press the Center Soft Key.Home screen and select Camerafrom theApp PermissionUpon first use of Camera, the App Permission screen will display,asking for permission to know your location. Press the Center SoftKeyto Allow or the Left Soft Keyto Deny.Take a picturePosition the object or landscape in the screen and press the CenterSoft Keyto take the photo. Photos will be automatically saved tothe Gallery app.After taking photo, press the Left Soft Keyto preview.Zoom in/outPress Up or Down of the Navigation key to zoom lens in and out.OptionsPress the Right Soft Keyto o access ptions. Then use the Leftand Right Naviation key to select: Camera Resolution: Select the resolution as High, Standard, orLow. Self Timer: Sets the time a photo is taken after pressing theCenter Soft Key.32

Grid: Adds grid lines to photo screen to help take better photosby using grid lines to align photo image. Gallery: Select Go to Gallery Application to view photospreviously taken. Modes: Select to switch between Photo and Video mode.To record a videoPress Left and Right of the Navigation Key to switch between Photoand Video mode.Press Up or Down of the Navigation Key to zoom lens in and out.to record a video, press again to stopPress the Center Soft Keyrecording. Videos will be automatically saved to Video app.33

77.1ToolsUsing Voice AssistantYour phone offers a way to input commands, contact names and textby using your voice.Launch Voice Assistant1. There are two ways to open the voice assistant.a. From the Home screen, Press and hold the Center Soft Keyon the phone keypad.to access the application menu,b. Press the Center Soft Keythen move the cursor to the KaiVA. Press the CenterSoft Keyonce again to launch voice Assistant.2. When “Voice Assistant Listening ” screen appears, speak yourvoice command out loud. Voice Assistant will display the words you have spoken in textand walk you through the steps. Use the Navigation Key to move the arrow to an appropriateweb site link, then press the Center Soft Keyagain toopen the web site.3. When making a phone call, use Voice Assistant to search namesin your contact list. Press the Right Soft Keyfrom the Home screen, or selectin the menu. When your cursor is in the searchContactscontacts section, press and hold the Center Soft Keyuntilthe “Voice Assistant Listening.” screen appears. Speak out loudthe name of your contact into the phone. A list of contacts withthat name will appear.34

4. When sending a text, press the Messages Keyor selectMessagesin the menu. Select New to compose a new textmessage. Place the cursor in the To section of the message, pressand hold the Center Soft Keyand clearly speak the name ofthe person to whom you want to send a text. Use the NavigationKey to select a name then press the Center Soft Key.5. When composing the body of a text message, move the cursorinto the space provided for a message. Press and hold the Centeragain, wait for the “Voice Assistant Listening ”Soft Keyscreen and speak one sentence at a time. At any time you mayedit your text message.6. When creating an email, Voice Assistant can also composeyour messages. Speak clearly into the microphone and add onesentence at a time.7. Other voice assistant commands.Open the Voice Assistant from the menu or press and hold theCenter Soft Keyand speak when you see the “Voice AssistantListening ” screen.Other voice assistant commands.Open the Voice Assistant from the menu or press and hold theCenter Soft Keyand speak when you see the “Voice AssistantListening ” screen. “What’s the weather today?” “where is the nearest grocery store?” “Find a pizza restaurant” “Show me the news from Chicago”35
