Mount fan so that fan blades are 10 feet or higherfrom floor.DescriptionMarley Engineered Products Fans are designed as adual purpose product. By minimizing temperaturestratification in winter, they can reduce heating costs inhigh bay buildings. The summertime applicationprovides a gentle downward movement of air forgeneral air circulation and evaporative cooling. Apermanent split capacitor motor and permanentlylubricated ball bearings add to the efficiency andquietness of the fans.Unpacking1. Remove fan components from carton carefully.2. Check for shipping damage.3. Check for missing parts against parts list.RECOMMENDED MOUNTING HEIGHTSFor heat reclamation, this fan should be mounted onthe standard 2’ downrod included. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONSCAUTION: If pilot hole is used with the wood threadhook, the pilot hole should be drilled no larger thanthe minor diameter of the screw threads on thehook. Do not put lubricant on the “J” hook. At least1-1/2" of the screw threads should be secured intothe structural wood joist. When the threaded bolthook is used, be careful to secure tightly withsupplied lockwashers and nuts. Attach the hook asinstructed and hang the fan.This fan includes a “secondary support” safety cable feature that complies with existing C.S.A. (CanadianStandards Association) requirements and all otherproposed safety regulations for overhead air movementequipment. To insure proper installation of this importantsafety feature, please read and follow these instructionscarefully.1. Carefully unwrap the coiled safety cable and motorlead wires.2. At the motor yoke assembly (A), remove the cotter pinand loosen the hexagon nut. Carefully remove springwasher and the hexagon screw (E). (See Figure 1)3. Slide the upper canopy cover (B) (bell shaped) up therod. Slide the lower canopy cover (C) up to rod.4. Feed the three wires and the safety cable through thecenter hole in the steel yoke connecting piece abovethe motor (A) and then continue feeding wires andcable through the downrod until the wires and cablecome out at the upper shackle end (D).5. Mount the downrod to the yoke (A) and replace thehexagon screw. Make sure all wires are securely placed to avoidrubbing against the motor.CAUTION: Leave 1/4” clearancebetween lower canopyand motor housing.(E) MOUNTING HEX BOLT SETHEX BOLTLOCKWASHERBLADEPLASTIC PAD7.Attach the three blades, curved side down to themotor with the insulation pad mounted betweenthe blade and the motor. Make sure blade holderis flat against motor platform when tighteningblade nuts for secure fit.CAUTION: Never adjust thelower shaft bolt assembly whichis precision secured during themanufacture of this fan.MOTOR HOUSINGCAUTION: Make sure that blades are attached asshown.9. This fan is equipped with the required “secondarysupport” cable. This cable must be affixed to thebeam structures and securely clamped in such a manner to support the weight of the fan in the event themounting hook or other parts fail. After wrapping cablearound a structural member that will support 300lbs., secure cable with supplied cable clamps asillustrated in Figure 3. (Note: Any additional materialsneeded for specific installations may be purchasedfrom your local distributor.)CAUTION: Blades must be fastened to the motor asshown in Figure 1. DO NOT reverse blades wheninstalling.NOTE: Blades are weight balanced per set. DO NOT mixon multiple fan installations.NOTE: Do not bend fan blade brackets.WARNING: DISCONNECT CIRCUIT POWER BEFOREMAKING ANY ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS.8. Before attaching the appropriate “J” hook to thebuilding structure member note the following:NOTICE: Leave approximately 3” but no more than 5” ofslack on this safety cable to allow for possible fanmovement. Do not exceed more than 5” total slack.IMPORTANT. WHEN MOUNTING THIS FAN, THESUPPORT BEAM MUST BE SUITABLE FOR A 50POUND LOAD LIMIT.IMPORTANT CAUTION: The safety cable must not beplaced between the rubber roller and hook but as illustrated in Figure 3.2
10. When hanging fan on factory supplied “J” hook,make sure cable at top of rod is positionedbehind “J” hook as illustrated in Figure 3.ELECTRICAL WIRERUBBERROLLER13. Restore power.15. After completing installation, test run fan in normaloperating manner. Inspect for any possible shake or wobblewhich may be caused by binding as a result of “tight cable”.If this should happen, shut off power supply and re-checkinstructions to correct problem.NOTE: When any solid state motor speed control is used, ahumming nise will be present in the fan on low speed. Thishum in no way affects the operation of the fan and isacceptable in most industrial applications.Figure 3IMPORTANT NOTICE: It is important to note properinstallation position of the cable clamps as illustrated inFigure 4. To obtain maximum holding power, installU-bolt section of clip on dead or short end of cable andsaddle on long end of cable. MINIMUM SPEED ADJUSTMENTa) Motor must be in actual operating condition to achieveproper speed adjustment. (Motor will not slow downunless blades are attached.)b) Turn main control knob clockwise to lowest speedposition.c) Locate and adjust minimum speed setting on frontplate with screwdriver (rotate clockwise to decreaseminimum speed, counter-clockwise to increaseminimum speed so that motor runs sufficient torque toprevent stalling. If fan stops on its own the minimumsetting is too low).d) Motor will now operate from this present minimumspeed to full speed.12. Slide the upper canopy (B) up the rod to within 1/4”of the ceiling or beam and securely tighten the setscrew (F).LUBRICATIONAll bearings are permanently lubricated and do notrequire further lubrication.CLEANINGThis fan may be wiped off with a damp cloth. Do not allow themotor to get wet. Do not use solvents or harsh detergent.CAUTION: Before servicing or cleaning unit, switchpower off at service panel and lock service disconnecting means to prevent power from being switchedon accidently. When the service disconnecting meanscannot be locked, securely fasten a prominent warning device, such as a tag, to the service panel.3

INSTRUCTIONS D'INSTALLATIONATTENTION : Si un avant-trou est utilisé pour la vis à boisdu crochet de suspension, il ne faut pas le percer plusgros que le diamètre minimum du filetage de la vis ducrochet. Ne pas met-tre de lubrifiant sur le crochet en J.Au moins 3,8 cm du filetage de crochet doivent être vissésdans la poutre structurelle en bois. Quand c’est le crochetà boulon fileté qui est utilisé, s’as-surer de bien le serreravec les rondelles de blocages et écrous fournis. Fixer lecrochet comme expliqué et suspendre le venti-lateur.Ce ventilateur comporte un câble de sécurité de soutienauxili-aire qui répond aux exigences actuelles du CSA(normes cana-diennes) et de toutes les autres réglementations de sécurité pour les équipements pour mouvementd’air suspendus. Rétablir l’alimentation électrique.15. Une fois l’installation finie, essayer le ventilateur enfonctionnement normal. Surveiller s’il présente éventuellement secousses ou oscillations, qui pourraient êtrecausées par une déformation suite à la tension de câble.Si c’était le cas, couper l’alimentation électrique et vérifierà nouveau avec les instructions pour corriger leproblème.REMARQUE : Quand une commande de vitesse à semiconducteurs est utilisée, un bruit de bourdonnement peut venirdu ventilateur quand il tourne à faible vitesse. Cela n’affecteen aucun cas son fonctionnement et c’est acceptable dans laplu-part des installations industrielles.AVERTISSEMENT RELATIF À LA SÉCURITÉ VEUILLEZ LIRE ATTENTIVEMENTUn électricien certifié selon le Code national de l’électricité, etles autres codes locaux pouvant s’appliquer, doit installer ledispositif de contrôle.
