Cultural Studies: Culture and Organization, M.A.This Masters programme focuses on the relationship between culture, the arts andorganization.The students learn to reflexively engage with organizational and entrepreneurial practices in different fields and industries of arts and culture. They engage with culturaland sociological theories as critical lenses on contemporary organization. Theystudy key approaches to cultural organization from the field of management andentrepreneurship studies. They learn to understand and shape organizational andentrepreneurial practices in arts and culture.Taught entirely in English, the programme actively pursues an international outlookand combines fieldwork-centred education with research-based teaching.Leuphana University of Lüneburg2

Career ProspectsThe Culture and Organization programme provides theoretically advanced andpractice-based knowledge of, and competencies for, organizing culture.Students are prepared for responsible roles in the cultural and creative industries, inthe arts, in the media, in the public sector, in urban development, in foundations andcharitable organizations. Core Area: Sociology of CultureThe module lays the social-theoretical foundations for the program.Students engage with key approaches to the sociology of culture and to culturalsociology. Core Area: Cultural EntrepreneurshipIn this module, students will explore different perspectives on work entrepreneurshipin the field of cultural and creative industries. Drawing from sociology,entrepreneurship research, organization studies and communication theory, they willinvestigate the conditions and potential of intervening and creating in culturalcontexts.Students will also gain hands-on experience developing a concept for a cultural eventin collaboration with a creative or cultural institution. Core Area: Digital Media and Social OrganizationThis module is dedicated to the recursive relation of media technologies and theorganized world.
