INTRODUCTION / MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT & CEOMESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT AND CEO2020 was one of the most challenging years in memory for many of us. The COVID-19crisis and continued racial inequities in our society weighed heavily on peopleeverywhere, both personally and professionally.and we’re seeing results. Our scores on severalexternal assessments and audits measuringsustainability are sequentially improving eachyear, and we continue to reach for furtherprogress in the future.A2021 marks Kelly’s 75th year in business, and it’s a year we’re focused on pursuingour strategy as a specialty talent companywhile advancing diversity, equity andinclusion both within Kelly and insociety at large. Thank you for joiningus as we grow with purpose.t Kelly, the experiences of 2020renewed our already strong passionfor our purpose of connectingpeople to work in ways that enrich their livesand reminded us of just how important itis for us to fulfill our purpose in a way thatcreates positive, lasting change for peopleand our planet. Our ongoing sustainability approach at Kellycontinues to be closely tied to our purpose— a strategic program clearly focused onpositive environmental and social impactwithin an effectively governed frameworkbased on integrity and ethics. As a leader and person, I’ve found it helpfulto reflect on some of the silver linings fromthe past year, and our continued progress onour Environmental, Social and Governance(ESG) goals within our sustainability strategyis one of them. I’ll take a moment to share asingle highlight from each ESG area:Environmental (Occupational Health& Safety and Environment): Kelly’sactions during COVID-19 have been4 / SUSTAINABILITY REPORT 2020guided by a clear set of crisis principlesthat we developed at the onset of thepandemic. The number one guidingprinciple is protecting the health and safetyof our people, including our employeeson assignment and our full-time staff. We quickly transitioned to a remote workenvironment for employees able to conducttheir assignments remotely. And for those ofus on the front lines, we adhere to sciencebased mitigation strategies carefullyrecommended by our cross-functionalEmergency Management Team.Social (Employees and People; SupplyChain and Customer Relations;Engagement): As a talent company, webelieve we can and should do more tochampion for those who aren’t given a fairopportunity to secure meaningful work.In 2020, we launched our Equity@Workinitiative that sets a course to upend systemicbarriers to employment and make the labormarket more equitable and accessible. We’re energized by the incredible interestin this platform and will apply sustained, ongoing effort over the long-term to make ameaningful dent in the many long-standinginjustices that hold back far too many peoplefrom upward mobility — disproportionatelypeople of color.Governance (Ethics and BusinessConduct; Communication andReporting): Operating with integrity anddoing the right thing has been the Kellyway since our founding. Our board ofdirectors, responsible for leading effectivegovernance at Kelly, is inclusive: 44% of theboard is comprised of women or ethnicallydiverse members. And in 2020, each of ourboard committees — Audit; Compensation& Talent Management; and CorporateGovernance and Nominating — becamefully independent. This report provides additional detailsabout what Kelly has accomplished onour sustainability journey thus far. Part ofthe path toward continual improvement isaligning our initiatives to the principles of theUN Global Compact. We’re pleased to signand support this collaborative global effortnow adopted across nearly 200 countries,Peter W. QuigleyPeter W. QuigleyPresident and Chief Executive Officer
