VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH UNIVERSITY/ TIDEWATER COMMUNITY COLLEGEARTICULATION AGREEMENTI.PurposeThis agreement between Virginia Commonwealth University and Tidewater CommunityCollege is intended to facilitate the transfer of students from TCC’s Associate of Fine Arts(Music) (plan 560) to VCU’s Bachelor of Arts in Music or Bachelor of Music with aconcentration in performance.II.General Admission Requirements and Eligibilitya. To be eligible to enroll at Virginia Commonwealth University, students must meetadmission criteria and processes as set forth by the Department of Music of VirginiaCommonwealth University under the terms of this agreement. For general transferinformation for applicants to the music programs, ransfer/music-transfers/b. Students planning on transferring to VCU under this articulation agreement mustsubmit a Letter of Interest 90 days prior to transfer, and enroll within one year ofcompleting a transfer oriented associate degree. -interest.aspx.c. Students applying must complete a transfer application by the designated VCUdeadline, visit er/music-transfers/.d. Applicants applying to VCU will have completed the Associate of Fine Arts in Music atTCC.e. Students transferring must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and have completedTCC Associate of Fine Arts (Music) degree courses with a minimum grade of “C”applicable to their associate degree.f. Students must schedule an audition with the Department of Music to determine:admission status, degree program (Bachelor of Arts in Music or Bachelor of Music witha concentration in performance), applied instrument level, plus placement examdiagnostics in written music theory, aural skills and keyboard skills, and the number ofcredits applied toward the music degree program requirements.g. The agreement does not include an articulated pathway to the Bachelor of Music with aconcentration in music education. Students may transfer to this degree program but thisrequest would receive a separate consideration.III.Transfer of Creditsa. Tidewater Community College coursework will be evaluated for transfer creditaccording to Virginia Commonwealth University transfer credit policy.b. Students who have completed the Associate of Fine Arts in Music and who aretransferring under the terms of this agreement will be granted junior standing.c. Depending on the audition results, students will be awarded up to 35 credits toward theBachelor of Arts in Music or Bachelor of Music with a concentration in performancedegree requirements.IV.Responsibilities of Virginia Commonwealth Universitya. Consider TCC students who transfer under this agreement on the same basis as nativeVirginia Commonwealth University students.b. Provide annually in July tracking data on the performance of students including, but notlimited to, number of currently enrolled TCC transfer students and graduates, program

specific enrollment, number of TCC accepted transfer credits, GPA for TCC graduatesand transfers, programs completed by graduates.V.Responsibilities of Tidewater Community Collegea. Notify students of Virginia Commonwealth University transfer opportunities.b. Advise students regarding the course work needed to transfer to VirginiaCommonwealth University under this agreement.VI.Responsibilities of Studentsa. Follow all Virginia Commonwealth University application processes and all specificdepartment/program application procedures, deadlines, and grade point averagerequirements as set forth in this agreement.b. Meet regularly with a transfer counselor.VII.Review of Agreementa. This agreement will be reviewed and updated every three years or whenever academicprogram changes occur at Tidewater Community College or Virginia CommonwealthUniversity to necessitate an update.b. Either institution can initiate a review of this agreement.VIII.Terms, Termination, and Other Provisionsa. This agreement is effective as of the date of the fully executed agreement and shallcontinue until terminated.b. This agreement may be terminated:i.
