Single user install process andbrowser access to Fusion 360As of August 2021, there are two paths that students may take to get an account witheducational access to Autodesk products including Fusion 360. The first path, option 1, is alsoavailable to educators and design competition mentors in addition to students.Option 1Individual AccessA student, educator, or design competition mentor may create an account and individually confirm their eligibilityto access the Autodesk Education plan. This plan provides free, educational access to Autodesk products for eligibleindividuals. Products can be accessed this way at autodesk.com/eligibility.Option 2Access via an EducatorA student may create an account after getting assigned to use one or more Autodesk products by their educator.This will provide students with access to Autodesk products at manage.autodesk.com/cep/. These students will nothave to individually confirm their eligibility for educational access to Autodesk products.Students may use both option 1 and option 2 at the same time. This document will walk you through how theseoptions work.1

This plan provides free, educational access to Autodesk products foreligible individuals.1Create an accounta.Go to the Get Products page within the AutodeskEducation Community at autodesk.com/eligibilityand click Get Started on the Download Fusion 360product tile.b.Sign into your account or click Create Account tocreate a new Autodesk account.c.If you are creating a new account, fill in therequired information and click Next.Note: It is important to provide the correctinformation here because your answers will informthe list of schools that you will choose from on thenext screen.2

Single user install process andbrowser access to Fusion 360d.Enter your full name, email address, and apassword to create an Autodesk Account.Note: The first and last name you use in thisstep needs to match the first and last name onthe documents you will submit to confirm youreligibility for free educational access to Autodesksoftware and services.For example, If your school ID says “Susan Smith,”please enter this as your name instead of “SueSmith.”e.3Check your email account for a message fromAutodesk, open it, and click the Verify Emailbutton within the message to verify your emailaddress.

Check oruncheck the box on this page to set your emailpreferences and click Done.g.A form will display that asks you for a few moredetails related to your educational eligibility. Fillout this form and click Next.h.A message will display about your account status.Click Continue and return to the Get Productspage within the Autodesk Education Communityat autodesk.com/eligibility.4

If you see amessage stating that we still need to confirmyour eligibility for educational access to Autodeskproducts, then click the Get Started button tobegin this confirmation process.b.Check that your information is correct and clickthe Confirm button.c.Autodesk uses SheerID’s verification servicesto help confirm your educational eligibility. IfSheerID can immediately confirm your eligibility,you will see a message that says, “You’reConfirmed.” If you see this message, click the GetAutodesk Software button.If you do not see this message, please follow theadditional steps below to provide documentationthat will allow SheerID to confirm youreducational eligibility.5

To improve your chances of approval,please provide more than one document. Forexample, students can upload a student ID cardand a class schedule. Educators can upload anemployee ID card and an official employmentletter from their educational institution.The following letter templates can be downloadedand used to create documentation on schoolletterhead: Student template Faculty templateOnce your documentation has been uploaded,click Submit. It may take up to 48 hours for youreducational eligibility status to be determined bySheerID.e.If SheerID approves your educational eligibility,you will receive a confirmation email.If you do not receive a confirmation email andwould like to follow up with SheerID, pleasecontact them at customerservice@sheerid.com.6

If your computer meets theserequirements, proceed to the next step andcontinue with the installation process.If you are using a Chromebook or a computerthat does not meet these requirements, click GetProduct on the Browser access to Fusion 360tile. This will take you to fusion.online.autodesk.com where you can use Fusion 360 in a browserwithout installing it. This browser access option isonly available in English.c.If you are a student or design competitionmentor, click Get Product on the Download Fusion360 tile.If you are an educator, make sure you are on theIndividual tab and then click Get Product on theDownload Fusion 360 tile.The Download Fusion 360 tile is for downloadingthe Fusion 360 software.7

During the installation, you will seea progress bar. When the installation is complete,Fusion 360 will launch automatically. This maytake a few minutes.

Click Next.b.You will be prompted to create a team or join ateam. You must be associated with a team to useFusion 360. Once you have a team, you can use itto create projects, add people to your projects,share and manage your project data, and more. Tocreate a team, click Create a Team.For more on this topic, visit the AutodeskKnowledge Network article titled Getting Startedwith Fusion Team for Education.c.Enter a name for your team. It could include yourname or nickname. The team name you use will bevisible to anyone that you invite to your team.Note: Team names cannot contain emojis or any ofthe following characters: \ / : * ? “ 10

Single user install process andbrowser access to Fusion 360Option 2: Access via an EducatorA student may create an account after getting assigned to use one or more Autodesk products by their educator.These students will not have to individually confirm their eligibility for educational access to Autodesk products.1Create an accounta.You may get an email from Autodesk that yourAutodesk Account is waiting.This email is sent to students who have beenassigned to use an Autodesk product by theireducator but do not yet have an Autodesk Accountassociated with the email address used by theireducator for the assignment.If you receive this email, open it and click theCreate My Account Now button to create a newAutodesk Account.b.Enter your first name, last name, emailaddress, and a password. The email field willbe prepopulated with the email address whereyou received the message that “Your AutodeskAccount is waiting.” This email address will beyour new Autodesk user ID. Be sure to confirm itby typing the email address in the confirm emailfield.Check the box to agree to the Autodesk Terms ofUse and Privacy Policy.Click Create Account.Note: Keep your user ID and password for yourAutodesk Account in a safe place, such as in apassword management application.13

All studentsbeing assigned to a product by their educator areautomatically opted out of marketing emails. ClickDone.

Enter the email address associated withyour Autodesk Account.c.Enter your password and click Sign In.15

To skip this step, click RemindMe Later.e.Check the system requirements for Fusion360 software. If your computer meets theserequirements, proceed to the next step andcontinue with the installation process.If you are using a Chromebook or a computer thatdoes not meet these requirements, go to fusion.online.autodesk.com where you can use Fusion360 in a browser without installing it. This browseraccess option is only available in English.f.16After setting up or skipping 2 step verification, youwill arrive at manage.autodesk.com/home/. Fromhere, click on the All Products and Services menuitem on the left side of the page.
