A Leading Manufacturer of Higher Quality Gages Precision Gages for Quality Assurance Hard Chrome Finish Major manufacturers of high quality parts and components have been relying on Gage Assembly gages for over sixty years. Gage Assembly provides a hard chrome finish on all standard thread plug gages at no extra cost. Special fixtures are used in a proprietary plating bath formula which allows a greater thickness of hard chrome to finish size without relapping. This chromium surface finish, applied in-house, results in an extremely hard surface metal that provides increased wear, corrosion resistance and is guaranteed against chipping or peeling. Special thread gages can also be hard chromed for an additional charge. Gage Assembly’s engineered plant, gage lab and technical expertise provide the necessary environment to manufacture consistent highly accurate gages. Skilled fabrication is utilized using the latest CNC and conventional Internal and External High Precision thread grinding machines. Fine tool steels and advanced calibrated inspection equipment all combine to offer the customer superior wear and extended performance at substantial savings. By using hard chrome gages, you can reduce your gaging costs by 40 percent or more when compared to using steel gages. Gage life can be extended to four or more times longer than comparable steel gages. Achieve Superior Performance, Extended Wear Gage Assembly’s thread gages are made of 0-6 oil hardened graphitic tool steel. This material offers a high resistance to wear, good anti-friction properties, and freedom from distortion. Pitch diameters are guaranteed to be in the upper half of the gagemaker’s tolerance. This will further optimize wear and extend gage life.

A root clearance at the major diameter eliminates any possibility of interference from the full form of the setting plug and major diameter of the part being checked. Truncated set plug is the same as full-form set plug except with crest of thread removed for approximately one-half length of gage, giving a full and truncated portion. The full portion insures correct clearance and forms at major diameter of ring. Truncated portion controls pitch diameter. (see diagram) TRUNCATED For checking P.D. FULL FORM For checking Root clearance When using truncated setting plug, thread ring gage should be set on the full form of the set plug. The ring should then be turned on the truncated form, and the “feel” should be the same as on the full form. If there is a “shake” on the truncated form, this will indicate that the thread form of the ring is unsatisfactory and should be discarded, or if possible, repaired by relapping.
