Whenturned On, certain screen buttons andfeatures will become visible when ahand approaches the screen. Whenthe hand is removed, these featuresfade. Proximity sensing can be turnedOff in the Settings applications in theDisplay menu options.TouchpadThe touchpad is integrated into thecenter console of the vehicle, in frontof the armrest. It provides analternative way to select features onthe infotainment system by using aconsole mounted remote controllerinstead of the infotainment display.The touchpad remote controller hasa 3 BACK button.7Gestures3 BACK : Press to return to theprevious screen. Press and hold toreturn to the main menu.Benefits of using the touchpad:. Quick gestures to cycle throughmedia and radio sources or seek tothe next station or song. Handwriting recognition forquicker entry of address or placesof interest. Control of the system while thearm is resting on the console. Once using the touchpad becomesmore familiar, the dependence onlooking at the infotainmentdisplay may decrease. The three finger gestures will helpgive a quicker interaction whileraising and lowering the favoritesbar, and paging between them.Use a single finger on the touchpad tomove the highlight and select buttonson the screen.Use the two finger gesture to controlthe features on a sourced area. Forexample, while in a list, move twofingers up and down on the touchpadto scroll a list.

If thecharacter is correct, the nextcharacter can be startedimmediately.After the system displays the firstdrawn character with audio feedback,the drawing of the next character canbegin. Check the list next to the drawncharacter if the system announces itincorrectly. Use the scroll bar up ordown to select the correct one.Handwriting Recognition has twomain modes:. Upper Case: Used for DestinationEntry. Mixed Case: Used for all othercharacter entry modes.‐ Delete the last entered characterby drawing a line across thecharacter field.‐ To create a space, draw a linefrom left to right across thecharacter field.Character Entry Field — Thissection is an area across the top ofthe screen. The Character Entrysection can look differentdepending on which feature isbeing used. When finished withthe input, touch and hold usingtwo fingers to exit characterrecognition and confirm the input,or touch with two fingers to exitand return to the keyboard.List of Possible Characters —The best guess character will be atthe top of the list. If characterrecognition displays the incorrectcharacter, look at this list and seeTouch the globe button from thealpha-numeric keyboard to open theHandwriting Recognition screen.Another way is to use the two fingergesture by swiping to the left on akeyboard screen or in a list view.Character Recognition or HandwritingRecognition is offered as analternative to using a keyboard. Thismethod of character input allows thedrawing of characters instead ofThe Handwriting Recognition screenis split into four major zones:. Drawing Pad — Draw a characterin the display area. This is wherethe drawing can be seen on thetouchpad.

The character isdisplayed in the character entrysection of the screen while anaudio response is triggered.Option Settings — This section isan area on the right side of theCharacter Recognition screen. Thissection will look differentdepending if the recognition modeis Upper Case or Mixed.Character Recognition Settings9Touch the option settings icon todisplay the Character RecognitionSettings menu. Touch an option toadjust the speed preference.Draw Speed: The Draw Speed settingadjusts the speed of the characterrecognition feature.For example, draw the first / of an Xon the screen. Lift the finger off thescreen to finish the other side of theX. Change the speed setting byselecting Faster, Default, or Slower.Depending on the selection theamount of time allowed to drawmultiple strokes will increase ordecrease.Character Selection Speed: TheCharacter Selection Speed adjusts theoverall speed of going through thecharacter recognition. The options are Faster,Default, and Slower.Audio Feedback : Audio feedback isan audible response to an action thathas occurred while using characterrecognition. An example is when acharacter is complete on the drawingpad, a representation of that characterdisplays and an audible response isheard. The audible response confirmsthe system has identified thecharacter and to proceed with thenext character.
