Broward County Spring 2021Testing Updates4

State of Florida Executive Order 7 All state testing must be done at the school site. There isno option for remote testing. Schools will follow CDC distancing guidelines as well assanitization, reduced room capacity and maskenforcement to support safe testing rooms. Parents will be notified of their student’s testing date andschedule.5

Spring 2021 Student Participation All students in grades 6-10 must participate in the FSAReading and Writing Assessment for Spring 2021 All students in grades 6-8 must participate in the FSAMathematics Assessment for Spring 20216

Spring 2021 EOC Participation andGrading Impact All students in grades 7-12 must participate in the EOC(End of Course) Assessment in Algebra I, Geometry,Biology, Civics and US History. This is 30% of the finalgrade for the course. Students who do not test within the allotted testingwindow will result in an “Incomplete”(I) grade, until theEOC has been successfully completed. This may have animpact on transcripts and promotional criteria.7

SAK Testing Calendar Updates Spring2021 Please note recent updates to SAK Testing Calendar. Thechange ONLY impacts FSA Writing and can be viewed onthe school website.13

AM and PM Testing Sessions AM Session (7:45 AM- 10:45 AM) Students who arescheduled in this session have the last name that beginswith A-L. PM Session (12:00 PM- 2:45 PM) Students who arescheduled in this session have the last name that beginswith M-Z.14

Testing Session Student Procedures Students will report on campus at their scheduled session time. AMstudents will report to Period 1 for attendance and then there will bean all call to move to testing. PM students will report to Period 6/7 forattendance and then there will be an all call to move to testing. Students will need to bring their own water bottle, light jacket andsnack. Students can dress in school appropriate comfortable clothingand closed toed shoes. No Crocs or slides please. Students are dismissed after their testing session. PM students areexcused from their morning classes to be best prepared for testing.They can be picked up after the session has ended. AM students areexcused from their AM classes.15

Make Up Testing/Absent Students Please try to avoid any medical appointments during yourstudent’s scheduled test date(s). We understand that emergencies come up, howeverplease notify the school when you are aware of theabsence for a make up test to be scheduled ASAP. All students must test all sessions per subject area inorder to receive a score.21

Middle School Student Progression In order to be promoted to high school, middle schoolstudents must successfully complete three middlegrades(6-8) in each of the following areas: English( ELA) Mathematics Science Social Studies (one year must be Civics)22

Middle School Student Progression In order for grade 6 and grade 7 students to be promotedto the next grade level, they must earn a passing grade in2 out of 4 subjects. Students that do not earn the passing grade for the coreclass must recover the missing credit in order to bepromoted to high school. This process is called creditrecovery and can be done during the school year, over thesummer or scheduled into the student schedule for thefollowing school year.23
