[51491] 650This unassuming-looking medical textbook provoked a great deal ofcontroversy with its inclusion of highly sexualized nude photographsof women, along with the objectification and dismissal of women inthe text itself. Accounts conflict as to whether the book was actuallyremoved from shelves by the publisher, or if it was allowed to die anatural death in the marketplace. Either way, it was resoundinglypanned, little-used, and never had a second printing. At the time itwas published, women comprised about 10% of medical students. Ken Sanders Rare Books 2017
