They arrived in style and participated in an excitingparty game while munching on yummy snacks. Then, to everyone’s shock, a kidnapping occurred! The guests mingledand caught up on the latest gossip while trying to decide what to do about the kidnapping. The kidnapper was clever andcame up with various ways of getting the ransom notes to the guests – including riddles and challenging codes! Anotherfun challenge was played by the guests as they awaited the next ransom note. Dinner was served as they strategized onhow to best handle the situation. The guests engaged in a thorough investigation, and everyone was relieved when a funscavenger hunt revealed the kidnapping victim! The guests turned in their best guess of whodunit before participating in afew more of Binkie’s scheduled party games. The guests sat in a circle and enjoyed desserts and yummy hot chocolatewhile one-by-one, they revealed their involvement in the crime. After the kidnapper confessed, the excellent party endedwith another thrilling challenge. OPTIONAL PRE-GAME STARTER: these optional pre-game cards are to be delivered to each guest beforethe party, or give them to the guests as they arrive. All pre-game materials are optional. They are intended toenhance the build up for the event. These tasks are not vital to solving the mystery. There is a lot of flexibility on how to invite yourguests – use the free invitation, make your own invitation, use a social media event page, email or text theYourMysteryParty.com link, or use any eVite service. The Your Mystery Party guest pre-game site will have asynopsis of the mystery, a game trailer video, the list of characters, costume suggestions, etc. Encourage yourguests to get familiar with their character role, other characters, and with the premise of the mystery beforeyour party. Using the Your Mystery Party guest pre-game site and doing the optional tasks in advance of thegame have shown to reduce ‘no-shows’ to the party. Since the players have soaked in the backgroundinformation, it makes the night progress more smoothly. SAMPLE TIMELINE(About a 2.5 - 3.5 hour party depending on the optional games played)1 week prior: Send pre-game task cards 1 week prior to the party.Time O: When the girls arrive, play a bonus game. (20 min)20 minutes: Go over the game instructions and introduce each character to the group.27 minutes: Read ransom note number 1.30 minutes: Pass out the Round One envelopes.32 minutes: Allow the girls time to mingle (gossip) with their round one clue cards. Serve a light snack.Mary’s clue will contain an extra note from the kidnapper and a scavenger hunt for ransom #2 hidden inside ofthe refrigerator in the kitchen will take place. ( 20 min)52 minutes: Play another bonus game. ( 20 min)1 hour, 10 minutes: Begin round 2 by reading ransom note number 3.1 hour 15 minutes: Pass out the round two envelopes to the guests, allow them to mingle (gossip), solve theriddle in Binkie’s clue to find ransom note #4 hidden under the couch in the family room. (20 minutes)1 hour, 35 minutes: Serve dinner (optional) to the guests and allow them to discuss the ransom and their cluecards.1 hour, 45 minutes: Read ransom note number 5 to the guests after dinner.1 hour, 50 minutes: Play another bonus game.2 hours, 10 minutes: Pass out the Mystery Investigation Sheets to the guests and a pen/pencil. Explain thatthey are to start figuring out which one of them is the kidnapper. They can discuss all clues and ransom notesone-on-one (mingling and speaking with every other player in the game), in small groups, or as a group.However you do it – make sure all information is shared.2 hours, 15 minutes: Sabrina’s given a note from the kidnapper that contains a coded message for theransom note number 6 – hidden in the nearest bathroom. This will direct the girls to find Zangelina.Zangelina is hidden anywhere in the house. The boundaries are given to the girls, they hunt for her, and thenmeet back in the party room to mingle (gossip) with their round three clues. They’ll submit their guesses of‘whodunit’ by using the Mystery Investigation Sheets. (20 - 30 min)2 hours, 35 minutes: Another bonus game is played (20 min for one and 2 is 40 min)2 hours, 55 minutes: Start round three by serving hot chocolate and dessert (birthday cake if this is abirthday) to the guests. The solutions are read by the guests one at a time in front of the group.
