(Chemical Engineering) students at the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, IIT Patna.The department provides and ensures an academicand research environment, which is highly conducive to preparing professionals who are self-motivated, independent and clear thinking individualscapable of handling the challenges associated withthe multidisciplinary nature genuinely committed totheir specialization. They also have skills and traitsthat are methodically cultivated during their stay atthe institute. The Chemical Engineering curriculumhas been designed in such a fashion that it yieldsa skill-set that has optimal compatibility with thecompetency set anticipated by employers in chemical and related industries.In addition to academics, the department encourages a variety of co-curricular activities that aremanaged by students themselves with due supportof faculty members. Department and DemographicsThe Chemical and Biochemical Engineering department of IIT Patna was initiated in the year of 2013 andthe B.Tech. program in Chemical Engineering commenced in the year 2016. Within the short durationsince inception, the department has steadily grownin facilities, including teaching and research laboratories, and the number of faculty and students. Thedepartment has credible research output in terms ofjournal publications, external research funding, andcollaborations. With the first batch of undergraduate students graduating in 2020, the department islooking forward to good placement record too. Thestudents have been trained well in both technical and4Chemical Engineering - IIT Patnasoft skills keeping their employability in focus. EveryUG student in the department has undergone summer-internship to earn them valuable experience thatwill help them select their career path. Unique fromother UG programs, internships, industrial visits, andtalks by experts have been part of the B.Tech. Chemical Engineering curriculum to ensure that they are exposed to the numerous opportunities in chemical andallied industries. Similarly, the final year projects havealso been spread across industrial and research topics to provide the students with a flavour of projectimplementation where they implement classroomknowledge in real-world scenarios.

Dheeraj Kalani lead a group toTech Meet 2019 which developed smart prototypes that could reduce various forms of energy wastage. Ayush Inani from our department was the overall coordinator.Rural Technology Development ClubThe aim of Rural Technology Development Club (RTDC) is to identify problems prevailing in the rural areas and to work to develop technologies anddevices to address them. EventsAnwesha‘Anwesha’, which gets its name from the Sanskrit metaphrase for ‘expedition’, is IIT Patna’s annual 3-day techno-cultural festival organised by thestudent community. Anwesha today is a conglomeration of events that drawfrom diverse disciplines, ranging from the engineering sciences to the visual& performing arts. Yash Choudhary, Ayush Inani and Parth Patel were thepart of core committee of Anwesha from our department.CelestaIIT Patna each year celebrates its Technical Fest, ‘CELESTA’. This is agreat beginning, which strives to inculcate interest in young minds topursue technology and make it their passion. Sangeeth Mukundan was apart of core committee of Celesta from our department.InfinitoInfinito is the annual sports festival of IIT Patna. It is a student organizedfest which has seen a exponential growth in just 2 years, and aims for alot more in the coming years. As manifested in the name itself it’s for thepeople with infinite energy, enthusiasm, zeal to play. Nishant Kulshresthawas a part of core committee of Infinito from our department.ReverberanceIt was started in 2008 and since then it has gained unmatched popularity.It is a cultural celebration held around ‘Diwali’.
