Appendix I: Lymph Node/Lymph Node Chain Reference TableUse this table with the Primary Site and Histology Rules to determine whether involved lymph nodes are in asingle ICD-O-3 lymph node region or in multiple ICD-O-3 lymph node regions. This table contains the names of lymph nodes that have the capsule and sinus structure of true lymph nodes.Lymphoid tissue such as that in the GI tract, tonsils, etc., is not represented in this table.Note: Pathology reports may identify lymph nodes within most organs, the most common being breast, parotidgland, lung, and pancreas. The lymph nodes in these organs are called intra- (organ name) lymph nodes such asintramammary lymph nodes. We have included the most common intra-organ lymph nodes on this table. For anintra-organ lymph node not listed on the table, code to the ICD-O-3 topography code for that organ’s regionallymph node chain(s).*The right and left are separate regions per AJCCLymph Node/Lymph Node ChainAbdominalAnorectal (pararectal)Anterior axillary (pectoral)Anterior cecal (prececal)Anterior deep cervical (laterotracheal, recurrent laryngeal, recurrent pharyngeal)Anterior jugularAnterior mediastinalAortic (ascending, lateral, lumbar, subaortic, NOS)Aortico-pulmonary window (subaortic)Apical (subclavian)AppendicealApical axillary (deep axillary, Level IIIaxillary)Aselli’s glands (nodes near pancreas)Auricular (infraauricular, postauricular, preauricalar, retroauricular, NOS)Axillary (anterior, brachial, deep, lateral, superficial, NOS)Axillary (Level I [low axillary, superficialaxillary], Level II, Level III [apical, deep)Azygos (lower paratracheal)Brachial (lateral axillary)BrachiocephalicBronchialBronchopulmonary (hilar) (proximal lobar)(pulmonary root)Buccal (buccinator)September 2020ICD-O-3CodeC772C775C773C772C770ICD-O-3Lymph Node Region(s)Intra-abdominalPelvicAxilla or armIntra-abdominalHead, face and neckTNM StagingMesentericPelvic, right and left*Axillary, right and left*MesentericCervical, right and left*C770C771C772Head, face and neckIntrathoracicIntra-abdominalCervical, right and bdominalHead, face and neckIntra-abdominalAxilla or armPara-aorticCervical, right and left*MesentericAxillary, right and left*C772C770Intra-abdominalHead, face and neckPara-aorticCervical, right and left*C773Axilla or armAxillary, right and left*C773Axilla or armC771C773C773C771C771IntrathoracicAxilla or armAxilla or armIntrathoracicIntrathoracicInfraclavicular, rightand left*MediastinalAxillary, right and left*Axillary, right and left*HilarHilarC770Head, face and neckCervical, right and left*Summary Stage 2018 Coding Manual v2.01
